Our newest Deep Thoughts on Shallow Subjects is a draft of our favorite movie villains! We didn’t do a good job of laying down the ground rules with each other so we workshop it to start the draft and decided to leave it in there to remove any doubt that we are nerds. We also didn’t feel the need to explain a lot of our first few picks as they are quintessential villains.

Our newest Corner Booth at Rex’s is on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. We stay spoiler-free until the 19-minute mark. There was obviously going to be a lot of comparison to the first movie and to a lot of what is going on currently in the MCU.

Our latest Deep Thoughts on Shallow Subjects is a draft of our favorite movie sequels. We couldn’t help ourselves and instead of going Top 5 we decided to go Top 10 and then in the middle of recording we recognized that we needed to go Top 15. Comic book movies are obviously ripe for this type of discussion and we didn’t disappoint.

Goofs: Troy forgot that Ant-Man and Wasp was also in between Infinity War and Endgame. The director of Mad Max: Fury Road is George Miller, not George Romero.

Deep Thoughts on Shallow Subjects

Our newest Deep Thoughts on Shallow Subjects is on our Top 5 Non-MCU movies. In addition to our Top 5 we wanted to do a bottom 5 since there are some big stinkers in this category. We end the conversation by talking about our biggest disappointments. We keep the Spider-Man 3 bashing to a minimum, and yes we were very pleased with ourselves for doing so. 

Goofs: Troy couldn’t remember the names Darwin and Tempest from X-Men: First Class. Troy confused Blade 2 and Blade 3. Blade 3 is the one with Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel.

Corner Booth at Rex's

Our newest Corner Booth at Rex’s is on The Mandalorian Season 3. We go through our normal categories and stay spoiler free for the first 15 minutes. After that we discuss some of our likes and dislikes of the season as this was one that many people were down on. Byers never tells Troy that he ran out of negative things to stay and just starts talking about the positives making Troy look like he was more down on the season than he really was.

Goofs: When we talk about Rise of the Guardians you can forgive Byers remembering it as the owl movie because that one was named Legend of the Guardians. Troy said Wizard Wand but he meant the Elder Wand from Harry Potter.

Our newest Corner Booth at Rex's is on the Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. This one was on both of our most anticipated of 2023 lists back when we closed out 2022. There is plenty of discussion about newcomer Adam Warlock, the always awesome soundtrack, Buff Groot, and our thoughts on the end of the trilogy.

Goofs: Troy couldn’t remember that the ship was named The Bowie and that Nathan Fillion’s name in Firefly was Mal.

Late Nights at Blockbuster

Our latest Late Nights at Blockbuster celebrates 40 years of Return of the Jedi. We get into George Lucas’ union busting ways, lots of toy and lego talk, and we’re pretty sure that this is the most you’ll ever hear someone talk about Moff Jerjerrod. Calvin accurately describes this as a feel-good movie as it is the most positive of any of the Star Wars movies. Troy also decided to give a pop quiz to Byers and Calvin on their knowledge of Star Wars names.
