Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been pretty divisive amongst fans and critics and we were no exception. We were pretty agreeable on the rating and our experience with this movie. Despite saying it every time, we actually went through our non-spoiler thoughts in record time!

Goofs: Haley Atwell is listed as Captain Carter rather than Captain Britain. The Doctor Strange director and writer that Troy kept mentioning are Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. Their previous movies were Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and Deliver Us From Evil. The movie that they went on to make after departing Doctor Strange 2 was The Black Phone.

Friend of the podcast Calvin Baird joins us to discuss the 20th Anniversary of Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Calvin is a big Star Wars fan and grew up in the prequel generation. Since Byers and Troy fall in between the two generations, they thought it would be a great perspective to have represented in the discussion. We briefly discuss the dating scene on Tatooine and Jedi Tae Kwon Do. Calvin brings up a great question, why doesn’t Natalie Portman share in some of the ire from the hardcore Star Wars fans for her performances in the prequels?

Notes: Calvin mentions Matt Lanter, who voices Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. He also mentions a Count Dooku book which is Dooku: Jedi Lost by Cavan Scott.

Better Than Perfect

Welcome to our new series titled Better Than Perfect where we watch a series that the other person hasn't seen and the other person absolutely loves. We say early on in the episode that we thought it would be 90 minutes and it clocks in at 2 hours and 13 minutes. Are Ricky Bobby and Sarah Walker multiverse brother and sister? We took some time to discuss the elephant in the room, Chuck’s hair in Season 2. We also hit a couple of tangents around Season 2 that we needed to explore but make that recap much longer than the other seasons. Lots of discussion about Season 4 should have been the end of the series rather than the shortened Season 5. 

Goofs: Troy said that Lauren Cohan’s The Walking Dead role was some time after Chuck. However, the first season had already aired but she became a regular on the show in the third season.

It's the 20th anniversary of The Bourne Identity and we have determined that nothing good happens in Zurich! We chase our first squirrel in record speed in the middle of the intro. Byers also comes up with a new award in honor of Julia Stiles. We go off on a little Lost tangent for a second since we now know that we won’t ever do a Lost rewatch. Byers makes the case that this is Matt Damon’s breakout as an action star and really wants the trilogy titles to be swapped around.

Goofs: Paul Dano’s character is named Edward Nashton, according to the comics this was his birth name, which he later changed to Edward Nigma (E. Nigma as in enigma, get it).

The Nirvana song is “Something in the Way”, it also appears in one of the trailers.

If you aren't sick of us talking about Spider-Man this month, do we have a treat for you! If you are sick of us talking about Spider-Man, well this is the last episode that we'll be discussing it for a while. We discuss our rankings of all nine theatrical release Spider-Man movies. 

Goofs: Troy refers to Dane DeHaan as Dane Dunning who, as he mentioned, is a pitcher for the Texas Rangers.  He also refers to Tony Stark as Tony Parker which made him really sad as Byers got to bring up the Spurs. Byers referred to Michael Keaton as Bruce Willis but we knew what he meant.

We might mention how there is a villain problem and how much we love Gwen and Peter’s chemistry probably five times too many. We also end up chasing a squirrel on the C. Thomas Howell movie Side Out.

Goofs: Troy was wrong that the original Sinister Six didn’t include Green Goblin. It was Doc Ock, Vulture, Electro, Mysterio, Sandman, and Kraven the Hunter.

Tobey Maguire has never been nominated for an Oscar, but Andrew Garfield was recently nominated for the movie Tick Tick Boom where he hangs out in the Moondance diner that we talk about – see even in the notes we give you nerdy facts.

Extra nerd fact – the Moondance diner is also the setting of the theme restaurant that Monica Gellar works at in Friends – where she meets Pete, played by Jon Favreau – aka Happy Hogan. See, the Moondance Diner really is the center of the Spiderman Universe.
