You can do your shopping at home, or play Mortal Kombat with a friend in Vietnam. You could even listen to us talk about this Jim Carrey classic on your phone or your computer. You could take us along for a jog, or go on a ride in the car. There’s no end to the possibilities. So grab thyself a mug of frosty brew or maybe some scramby eggs and hop in the fun bus as we discuss The Cable Guy.

We are celebrating the 15th anniversary of X-men: First Class this week. We gush over the direction, the way that it has aged, and all the actors (all but one). There are a couple of big plot holes/quibbles even though this is a comic book movie and we are already suspending our disbelief. Everyone breaks out as a a star after this movie so our acting categories was a little lengthy. As if we needed more evidence that we are losing our minds in our old age, we ask ourselves in the middle of the podcast if we did an X-men ranking podcast. Top Gun 

We’ve got the need…the need for quoting lots of movie lines and driving a little faster when Danger Zone starts playing. Because the pattern is finally clear and so we’re coming in for much more than just a fly by as we dive deep into the 80s classic Top Gun.

Byers sets a new record for times he tries to combine acting categories or make up new ones, and Troy actually contains himself on the scenes and quotes…no really we promise this is him containing himself when it comes to this movie. And eventhough Byers is not the biggest fan of this one, everything is still all good here on the Phileo Podcast, no one here has lost that loving feeling.

Underoos! Our newest episode is a Late Nights at Blockbuster on Captain America: Civil War. For all that we love about this movie we've got a few bones to pick with whoever edited this movie and some of the story choices leave a little to be desired. However, there is a ton of our favorite scenes, lines,

and action moments as this is one of our favorite Marvel movies. We are proud of ourselves for not turning it into a full Daniel Bruhl and Chadwick Boseman appreciation podcast. And we would be remiss if we didn't compare Chris Evans bicep flexing to Matthew McFadayen's hand flexing.

We are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the movie that launched one of the most unexpected franchises ever, The Fast and the Furious. As you can imagine, the Drax award is very short on this one. You don't watch these movies for the dialogue. This movie also includes one of our favorite casting what-ifs, even if it is barely believable. Byers utters one of the truly great lines in the history of our podcast when discussing an actor in Recognize My Face.

So we know we’re late turning in this assignment, but it’sfor a good reason – we’re really giving you 2 episodes at once – because not only did we rank our top 5 movies, tv shows and sports moments of the year – but we also ranked our top 25 movies of the first quarter century. So it was a very long assignment – and as a reward for making you wait a few extra days for this latest episode we are giving you our longest episode ever on the Phileo Podcast.
