2021 MLB Playoff Preview

We hand out some awards for the season from 1:50-22:30 (Don't pay attention to the fact that we said that we wouldn't talk about these much.) We get into the playoff talk after that minute mark. 

Goofs: Troy definitely overlooked Walker Buehler in the Cy Young race. Zack Greinke didn't have a losing record in 2009 when he won the Cy, but the team went 65-97. We can't pronounce Arozerana. Troy was a little too nice to the Marlins as they were just as bad as the Royals. Troy was too dismissive of Carlos Correa, who had a really good offensive year.

Top 5 Childhood Adventure Movies

Since we went through Goonies last week, we decided to list our Top 5 Childhood Adventure Movies. The ground rules were pretty loose as to what constituted an adventure movie but we held the childhood qualifier to about middle school age. 

Goofs: Troy butchered the first name of the writer-director for My Neighbor Totoro. It is Hayao Miyazaki and not whatever it was he tried to say.

We discuss the 80's classic The Goonies as it celebrates it's 35 year anniversary. We spend a lot of time on whether Sean Astin has a breakout performance or not and Troy brings up Memphis Belle yet again.

Top 5 High School Shows

We're going to back to homeroom, detention and Friday night football games, and talking about our Top 5 High School TV shows.

Goofs: The official count of same rankings to start the MCU was only 4 – we were not the same on the first Captain America, but we were the same on 12 out of the 23.

Byers says “captain of the football team” on One Tree Hill – it’s basketball, it’s always basketball on that show – there are no other sports at this school apparently.

The OC – we’re diving into all four seasons of the early 2000s teenage soap drama.

Goofs: We get a few things mixed up on the timeline, especially with the last two seasons, but have you watched those? It’s hard to blame us for blacking out some portions of those.

Top 5 "Big 3" of sports. A little football, we dabble in baseball, and we talk a whole lot of basketball as we discuss the best trios in sports.

Goofs: Troy flipped the Larry Bird and James Worthy situations. The Lakers benefited from Cleveland trading way all of their picks. The Celtics selected Bird a year before he declared for the draft and they created the Bird collegiate rule afterwards to prevent teams from doing that in the future. The Chamberlain/Baylor/West Lakers went to three finals and won one in 71-72. Draymond was suspended for Game 5 and returned for 6 and 7 in the 2016 Finals.
