Billy and Jimmy are brothers. One's a Dragon Master, one's a Shadow Master, until they're both Dragon Masters because a Shadow Master comes to town. It's dumb. The whole show, honestly, is garbage. It's hard to look at, hard to listen to, and it's a really bad adaptation. Avoid at all costs.

Everything To Guppy is a bite-sized, four-times weekly comedy/gaming podcast in which Gary Butterfield (Watch Out For Fireballs) and William Hughes (The A.V. Club) attempt to analyze every single item, boss, character, and concept in the rogue-lite video game The Binding Of Isaac. They manage to pull it off only slightly less than 50 percent of the time.
We chose this game on the basis of a misunderstanding, because the UK doesn't know how to name candy. What we thought would be a game about those sweet, sour, chalky tablets, ended up being a game about big M&Ms. Would the game based on the chalky candy have been any better? It's impossible to say, so we'll say yes. Yes, it would have been better.
Note: We've added an addendum about Weapon Augments at 53:58. We regret to omission.
Who's ready to get yelled at? We gave it an honest shot, but Returnal just didn't win us over. So this episode is about the first biome, the generalities, and about why we think this isn't a good roguelike (which doesn't mean we think it's a bad game!). We were super intrigued by the story and the atmosphere, if that's any consolation. This is likely disappointing for you, but I ask that if you really enjoy Returnal to hear us out.

Kole, Ben, Dennis, and Jala talk about Phoenix Point, Old Man’s Journey, The Forest, and much more.
The Grind:This game reminds me of a puzzle. About 120 of them, to be exact. You could be forgiven for thinking that Professor Layton existed before his debut game on the Nintendo DS. The whole series has such a strong aesthetic and vibe that it feels like a European cartoon that you just never heard about.
But no, this was created whole cloth as a way to adapt a series of Japanese brain teaser books into video game form. While the story beats are ludicrous, and not all of the puzzles work, it's hard to be entirely mad at this quaint and amusing DS game.
Thanks to William for executive producing this episode!
