What happens when you spend 80 days focused on love, connection and purpose?
Today is day 1 of my new Pleasure Project: The Dharma Love Project.
Alongside my Pleasure Project Program students, I’m embarking on my own 80-day journey.
Inspired by 2 books: Love 2.0 and The Bhagavad Gita, I’m unwinding my own sticky patterns of attachment, self-doubt, and worry.
About a month ago, I was attending a business mastermind and the breakout teacher revealed that I had some work to do in the area of self-love.
Self-love would be the most important thing that would help me achieve my goals, she said.
I took it to “heart” and designed a daily practice to generate the emotion of love.
Another thing that has been an ongoing struggle for me is being overly attached to the outcome. If you’ve been in my world for a while, you know that I love to set goals. Goal setting has served me well over the years. However, when I take action towards a specific result, and if it doesn’t happen, I’m CRUSHED.
My emotions take a nosedive. Some days I’m on an emotional rollercoaster. (I’m so thankful for the emotional regulation tools in my back pocket, self-coaching skills and coaches in my corner - but what if I could experience more equanimity in my day-to-day life?).
What if I could learn to let go of the results of my actions? How would that change things?
How much more bold would I be?
How much bigger would I dream?
How much more authentically would I show up?
The Bhagavad Gita states: “The meaning of Karma is in the intention. The intention behind the action is what matters. Those who are motivated only by the desire for the fruits of action are miserable, for they are constantly anxious about the results of what they do.”
Throughout my project my intention is LOVE. Love for myself, my loved ones, my clients, my community (you!), and my work.
Why? Because love not only feels amazing, but is also amazingly good for you. (Read Love 2.0 if you want the science behind it).
So for the next 80 days, I will take aligned action, from love, without attachment to the results, in service of my dharma (purpose). Every week, I’ll focus on implementing teachings from the Gita like equanimity, courage, belief, service, commitment, and more. Listen in to hear the approach I will take.
