Steve Palazzolo from Pro Football Focus joined the show. Steve has loved the Steelers draft and off-season and is optimistic, but can’t get on Poni’s level of excitement. Steve explained why he likes Kenny Pickett going into the season, based on late last year and what he showed in the preseason. He thinks the Steelers have plenty of weapons at their disposal right now. He said the AFC North is so tough because none of the teams will be bad, but it will feel like someone is a disappointment. Steve doesn’t think Deshaun Watson will be as bad as he was last season, but he showed in 2020 that he can be an elite player. Steve thinks the pass rush is easily the Steelers strength and how Nick Herbig is a great new addition. Steve thinks Pickett played at a similar level as Brock Purdy last season, but it came down more to scheme than what the QB was doing individually.
