Steelers insider Mark Kaboly from The Athletic joined the show. Mark thinks the Steelers won’t baby Kenny Pickett along, but they will start with a conservative approach. He said he definitely has a clutch gene, but hasn’t shown yet that he can win a game from start to finish. Mark doesn’t think Broderick Jones will start week one, but could be the starting left tackle by the end of the first month. He highlighted the early trio of edge rushers that Jones would face if he starts on day one. Mark talked about what kind of opportunities George Pickens will have heading into his second season. Mark said the Steelers would love to have those grind-it-out games in the first month of the season with the idea of building up to opening up the offense later in the year. Mark said it’s all setup for Joey Porter Jr. to start week one and said he’s viewed as the starter right now, and would only lose that if he has a bad training camp. Mark defended his love for the Alex Highsmith contract extension. Mark gave his love/hate of training camp. 

Hour 3: Donny Football Debrief. Madden QB rankings are out and Kenny Pickett did not get a lot of respect. Colin’s Twitter is still hacked. A national host made some interesting comments and we go over it. Mark Kaboly joins the show to talk about his “feud” with Chris, what he’s looking forward to at Steelers training camp, and more! A former Pitt player made a terrible decision the other day.

Is it put up or shut up time for Kenny Pickett? Ryan Clark says so. Last year was a mulligan of sorts in his rookie campaign and not getting to start right off the bat, but Chris and Colin think he can’t just be a player mostly along for the ride this year. Does he have to be truly great? Colin doesn’t think the Steelers will be at their best if Pickett has to be their best player. Who does the Steelers best offensive player have to be?
