Georgia Bulldogs insider Mike Griffith joined the show. Mike doesn’t think Broderick Jones will make it to 17th overall and the Steelers would have to trade up to get him. Mike is upset that George Pickens wasn’t featured more in the Steelers offense last season. The guys asked Mike about other Georgia prospects and he thinks the thought of Jalen Carter falling in the draft is so over the top. He doesn’t expect Carter to fall out of the Top 5. Mike doesn’t think Nolan Smith will be available when the Steelers open up the 2nd round. He doesn’t think there will be a Nakobe Dean type player this year that slid way down the draft during that weekend. Mike said it would be worth trading up for Jones because he has the highest ceiling of any tackle in the draft. He also gave insight on some unknown Georgia Bulldogs that could be big contributors in the NFL.

Mike said Paris Johnson Jr. at 17th overall is a dream scenario and he’d be surprised if any of the top three offensive tackles slipped to the Steelers. Mike thinks 32nd overall being Dawand Jones would make sense as someone who could plug and play at right tackle. Mike talked about how much sense it would make to take an edge or 3-4 defensive end in the 1st round and likes Lukas Van Ness from Iowa who can be a versatile body on the defensive front. Mike thinks Bryan Bresee is an underrated player that could fall to the Steelers in the 1st round or at the top of the 2nd round. Mike was VERY excited to hear Calijah Kancey got mocked to the Steelers by a local insider. He isn’t sure how the cornerback class will pan out, but thinks Joey Porter Jr. will be on the board when the Steelers are on the clock. Mike highlighted Deonte Banks who could be connected to the Steelers because he played at Maryland. Mike thinks Jack Campbell is a top 50 pick and has the tape to back it up.

A longtime Steelers insider said a Mike Tomlin extension is inevitable basically because he always gets one. And in a Poni Twitter poll, Tomlin was voted the best coach in Pittsburgh right now.

The Steelers have a heavy presence at the Ohio State pro day and Mike Tomlin was salivating over a few offensive linemen. He took Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones to a steakhouse last night. What is the play here for the Steelers as they look ahead to the draft? 

Poni effed up and did not get Euros ahead of his trip to France. Amanda told him a month ago to do this, but he waited until today with the trip next week. Does she have a right to be mad? And they were both unaware of the strike going on in the country currently.

Mike does think that one of these days a retired QB is going to come back, mentioning Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Mike talked about the Philip Rivers rumors of a comeback, but doesn’t think there was much behind that. Mike said these guys really have to question when Father Time will come around and wondered how well the old, statue QBs would have adapted to the Kyle Shanahan offense. Mike said the Packers want the 13th overall pick and more for Aaron Rodgers and talked about how possible that request is. Mike thinks the Jets should hold this out and wait until it gets later in the off-season and near the start of the regular season. Mike guessed that the deal will be done ahead of the NFL Draft and at the latest by the start of training camp. Mike said Odell Beckham Jr. is going to have to accept himself not making big money, maybe a one-year deal that is incentive driven before he looks for the bag. On the topic, Mike doesn’t think the Steelers have interest in OBJ and they are happy with what they have right now. Mike said the receiver position is slowly becoming the running back position because you can find guys so often. Mike thinks the only team now that will likely make a move on Lamar Jackson is the Colts, but only if they miss out on one of the top three QBs in the draft.
