Bud Dupree has been released by the Titans. Should the Steelers bring back their former 1st round pick? Chris said no and thinks a rookie drafted in the middle rounds could give you what Dupree did in Pittsburgh. Poni questioned if he should welcome Bud back with the screenshots of all the mean/threatening things Bud has said to him over the years.

Mike said Pitt does not want to mess around and lose their first ACC tournament game because they will have to sweat it out on Selection Sunday. Mike sees Pitt between an 8 and 11 seed depending on if they can win a game or two this week. He doesn’t see Pitt changing much if they win the entire conference tournament. Mike thinks a Penn State win and Pitt loss would give the edge to the Nittany Lions if it comes down to that pair. Mike said the Panthers and fans should be rooting for a team like Oklahoma and other squads that ‘won’t make the big dance (unless they win the conference), but could spoil a few bubble teams.’ Mike called Pitt a significant offensive team that doesn’t defend great. Mike talked about how the transfer portal has impacted teams in the ACC. Mike talked about some of the metrics in college basketball and which ones should jump out more than others. Mike explained some of the numbers that people might not understand. He said he would be pretty much stunned if Pitt doesn’t qualify for the big dance.

The multi-talented Hannah Mears joined the show from 5-6. Hannah said she got a great fish sandwich at Mad Mex and did not want the greasy filled fish sandwiches from your local church. The discussion was on Jordan Addison after the star receiver mentioned he would love a reunion with Kenny Pickett. We checked in on the poll Donny put up between Addison and Joey Porter Jr., which showed Porter dominating. Hannah highlighted how the Penn State defensive backs played last year and she give the edge to Porter if it comes down to those two.

Tyler think it was big to get Brock McGinn off the books. Tyler thinks Tristan Jarry is a huge difference maker and there are times when the goalie has to stand on his head. Tyler called for an end to the dad’s trip when it’s trade deadline time.

Mark doesn’t think the Steelers will go get Jordan Addison, as in trade up for him, but he could see him becoming the 17th overall pick if the top offensive linemen and top cornerbacks are gone. Mark talked up Calijah Kancey, but said he was too good for the Steelers to have a shot at 17. Mark said Peter Skoronski is still his top target wit the Steelers first pick because there is still a need to build the offensive line. Mark expects Robert Spillane and Myles Jack to be back, but still expects inside linebacker to be targeted. Mark still thinks Mitch Trubisky would rather be elsewhere instead of signing an extension in Pittsburgh.

Poni gave Ron Hextall a D for his work ahead of the trade deadline and said the Nick Bonino trade and luckily dumping the Kasperi Kapanen contract is the only reason it wasn’t a failing grade. And an NFL team put the franchise on a running back that had a big season. If the Steelers had to make the same decision in a few years with Najee Harris, would you do it? Poni referenced everything that happened with Le’Veon Bell.

Bob said Jeff Carter is still getting too much ice time and he would toss him out on the wing with Nick Bonino back in the fold. He said Ron Hextall made mistakes with the Carter and Kasperi Kapanen contracts that “ruined the whole season.” Bob isn’t sure if Mikael Granlund will be the player they are looking for, especially on the defensive side, but he loves what Bonino can offer there. Bob commented on the Dmitry Kulikov acquisition and described it simply as a way to dump the Brock McGinn salary as he went back to Anaheim in the deal. Bob expects the Pens to make the playoffs, but doesn’t like their chances against anyone ahead of them, besides the Lightning. He said to still keep your eyes on the Sabres who could make a late push to the Pens’ playoff hopes. 

Joey Porter Jr. ran an unofficial 4.47 40-yard dash at the combine. Will he make the Steelers believe he is the perfect package? Poni is praying the Steelers don’t trade up to take Porter. And Poni wants the Steelers to draft Jack Campbell in the 2nd round after he put together a phenomenal combine.
