One of the Steelers writers in the city believes re-signing Cam Sutton would mean no cornerback in the 1st round, but it’s one or the other. With so many mock drafts having the Steelers select Joey Porter Jr., does that mean most believe they won’t bring back Sutton? Should we still have the fear of the Steelers drafting a CB early in the draft because of recent history? Someone suggested applying the transition tag to Sutton – which gives him X amount of dollars that another team can top that and take him, leaving the Steelers with no compensation. Poni said the Steelers should cut Mitch Trubisky and use that money to work something out with Sutton.
CBS NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson joined the show. Ryan said the draft is stacked with defensive backs and that he has 10 DBs going in the first 65 picks of his most recent mock draft. Ryan talked about Kelee Ringo as an option, but said he’s not really in the conversation of the top crop of prospects at the position. He highlighted Darnell Wright out of Tennessee that has jumped from a mid-late round pick up to a potential 1st round pick. Ryan said Anton Harrison is another tackle that will garner attention as we get closer to the draft. He talked about a few other big guys that will be looked at in the opening round or the second night. Poni asked Ryan about a few Pitt prospects coming out this year. Ryan talked about Jaxon Smith-Njigba out of Ohio State and if he is a possibility at pick 32 to start the second night.
