The Pod-Cast episodes

  • 13: The Theme is That There is No Theme
Have you ever had a long, uninterrupted string of incoherent dreams that made no sense at the time and, upon later reflection, made even less sense? The similarities to that situation and this episode of the Whales are Whales Pod-Cast are striking. You've got posh chairs, Cameron's Destiny, a Box o' Fun, religious/humanistic thoughts from Descartes, Food Time, and a tale about this one bounty hunter who almost winds up in a horror story. It will no doubt be one of the greatest podcast episodes you've ever heard, and if not, at least everyone else had a nice time! Show Notes: Our theme music is Earl of July by coda. All other music is from Incompetech. Sound effects are from Freesound or Stephen's vocal chords.

  • 12: The Ant, the Marble, and the Podcast
Let's get this out of the way first: the second best part of this episode was Stephen's Superman pun. The first best part of this episode was everything else. Anyway, lots of other fun happenings happen in this edition of the Whales are Whales Pod-Cast, including the bittersweet tale of Stephen leaving World of Warcraft, Billy blasting through the Arkham series, and oodles (gosh darn oodles) of The Witcher. But it's not just video games this week. Actually, yes it is.

  • 11: Billy Debuts
Guess who's coming to dinner? Just kidding, it's not dinner, it's a Pod-Cast, and it's Billy! Here are some facts about Billy so you'll know what to expect. His name is Billy. We don't actually know his last name. He's from Australia. He co-founded Hearthaholics, the newest show to hit Whales are Whales. He's allergic to mosquitoes. Stephen makes him feel right at home with an allusion to meat grinders, leading smoothly into the first edition of The Best and Worst of Pretty Much Everything during which the panelists compare good/bad movies with hilarious/boring results. This further highlights how Bryan and Zachary are opposite human beings in every way, except maybe for Birdemic. Show Notes: Our theme music is Earl of July by coda. All other music is from Incompetech. Vocals by Stephen and Bryan.

  • 10: The 10th Anniversary Regarding Episode Count Rather Than Actual Years
Grab your party hats, listeners, because it is time for a party. Everybody's here (that's Stephen, Bryan, Cameron, Zachary, and Abigail for those keeping score) and ready to enact said partying. The Whales are Whales Pod-Cast is ten episodes old, which calls for a celebration with three distinct party pillars: Party Pillar #1: A live reading of the brief audio drama Stephen wrote more or less in his sleep. If the acting doesn't blow you away, Stephen's hip hop performance will... probably not blow you away either. Party Pillar #2: Avengers: The Age of Ultron discussion. This exciting conversation about the summer's biggest Hollywood blockbuster is all thanks to talented writer and director Josh Whedon. Party Pillar #3: Dragon Age: Inquisition discussion. We've decided long ago that Dragon Age is better than Mass Effect, but darn it, the beautiful, janky landscape of Dragon Land (canonical setting of the Dragon Age series) deserves to be further discussed. That's a triple party threat right there, except that it's not really threatening and more like tons of fun! Join us in our jubilation, okay?

  • 8: Proudly Sponsored by Generic Food Items
Cameron's still lurking around Stephen and Bryan's house, lit only by the eerie, sterile glow of his MacBook Pro, so inviting some friends over seemed like a capital idea. Enter Whales are Whales member Abigail and friend of the show (and boyfriend of the Abigail) Parker, bringing the count up to five in-person participants and the chaos level to something just below terrifyingly unmanageable. All the same, you will learn so much by listening to this podcast. The original name for Whales are Whales is revealed (hint: it's Bagel Bagel Productions), followed by a demonstration during which Cameron and Abigail switch glasses and see if they can read things (hint: they can't). There's even a quiz show about anime called Anime-zing Quiz Show because Stephen is hilarious. If you're a fan of people yelling/laughing and also off-brand food products, then goodness gracious, sir or madame, you are in for a treat. If you're a fan of Zachary, then rage, rage to the sky as we have done these past two weeks. He'll be back soon!
