The USC Trojans added another talented recruit with Shaun Scott. The defensive end hails from nearby Mater Dei, one of the most tradition-rich prep football programs in the nation. Lincoln Riley and his staff have been trying to make inroads into the local program and Scott certainly helps.

Georgia stayed inside the Peach State and gained the commitment of a talented safety in Jordan Smith. He’s from Warner Robins and plays for Houston County. Many of the top SEC and ACC programs wanted Smith.

Finally, props to Northwestern’s staff for finding 6-8 offensive tackle Leighton Burbach and reeling him in from the state of Nebraska.

The USC Trojans’ recruiting exploded with defensive linemen and many top players. The Trojans finally began landing top offensive linemen, too. Southern California’s recruiting is absolutely elite, especially with Keenyi Pepe in the fold.

Speaking of top offensive linemen, they should be valued more than they have been by many people. Case in point, the 2025 NFL Draft. Eight of the first round picks were offensive linemen. We explain why on The Portal Podcast.

Finally, the House Case will not be as prominent as many believe, and that’s explained as well.

Jackson Cantwell is the nation’s top football recruit and possesses the traits to be a generational offensive tackle. His family lineage includes his parents being Olympic throwers. Cantwell’s frame resembles his father with more height and incredible strength (over 500-pound bench press). He’s today’s prospect profile and sure-fire future NFL pick.

Looking across the recruiting landscape, The Portal Podcast discusses the pending House Case and how NIL will be shaped. I make a bold prediction about how Congress and Donald Trump will not truly sway how NIL and players are paid; it’s not as complicated as some believe.

Finally, did your college football team win the spring Transfer Portal?

A former elite recruit transfers to a Group of 5 program and it’s a reminder that the Transfer Portal never sleeps! It’s also a reminder that even elite recruits need a reset to jumpstart their college football careers.

On the recruiting front, North Carolina, West Virginia, Indiana, Pittsburgh, and Nebraska score quality high school commitments. Finally, watch out for 2026 edge defender Dre Quinn. I went to see him practice in Atlanta.

Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham used the Transfer Portal to help the Sun Devils become college football’s 2024 surprise Playoff team. ASU jumpstarted its 2026 recruiting efforts, too.

The Sun Devils are bringing in more highly-ranked recruits and could be one of the nation’s surprise teams on National Signing Day. Arizona State also continued to make smart transfer decisions.
