TITLE: 23-016 NO NEED TO STRAIN TO HEAR
VERSE: The voice of the LORD splits the mighty cedars. PSALM 29:5
Welcome to today's episode of "THE POWER OF GODS WHISPER", a podcast dedicated to understanding the many ways in which God speaks to us and guides us in our daily lives. Today, we will be discussing the importance of recognizing the impressions of the Holy Spirit and how it can be a powerful way that God speaks to us.
We thought the voice of God was much more subtle than that. We thought it was almost imperceptible, the kind of voice you have to strain to hear when the breeze is blowing in exactly the right direction and all else is quiet. But Psalm 29:4-9 tells us otherwise: “The voice of the LORD is powerful . . . majestic . . . splits the mighty cedars . . . strikes with bolts of lightning . . . makes the barren wilderness quake . . . twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare.” The same voice that created entire universes with just a word is still active today. When He speaks, things happen.
We often think of God's voice as something we can only hear if we go on a retreat or stop everything in order to listen intently. But that's not true at all; if you want to know what God sounds like, just pay attention. You don't have to go anywhere special or make any special preparations—just keep your eyes open and watch what happens when He speaks in your life
The voice of God is not just a sound wave, but a force. It's loud and majestic, but also subtle and quiet. It doesn't just fall on our ears—it transforms our environment.
Perhaps if God spoke to us in a way that was clear and decisive, it would be the end of a relationship and the beginning of rote servitude—a condition for which He did not design us.
The voice we strain to hear is never weak. It may be quiet, but it's powerful.
When God speaks, He means it. You don't have to fight with Him to get what you want or need—you just have to listen for His voice.
He may speak gently, or tell you about His plans for you, or counsel you in the midst of your circumstances. But when He issues a command, it's done. We must never mistake His quietness for reluctance or weakness; we can depend on the power of His voice—even when we aren't hearing it clearly.
LET'S PRAY...
Lord, I invite You to speak powerfully into my circumstances and into my heart. I trust Your timing and Your ways. Change whatever You want to change.
In conclusion, we hope that this message has encouraged you to be open to the unique ways in which God speaks to you and to share those insights with others in humility and love. Remember, God speaks to us in many ways and it's important that we pay attention to the impressions of the Holy Spirit and act on them. Join us next time as we continue to explore the many ways in which God guides us on our journey of faith. Thank you for tuning in to today's episode of "THE POWER OF GODS WHISPER"

TITLE: 23-015 FROM THE HEART OF GOD
VERSE: [The Lord said,] “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, . . . the flames will not consume you.” ISAIAH 43:2
“I never promised that you wouldn’t go through deep waters, rivers of difficulty, or fires of oppression. I have promised, however, that I will be with you and bring you through. You need to understand the difference. When you encounter trials, even painful or difficult ones, don’t think that I’ve let you down. I’m with you even in the midst of them.
“Many people think I’ve broken My promises when they encounter unexpected or traumatic crises. Then they let those disappointments color everything I say to them in the future. They don’t trust My words because, after all, I seem to have let them down last time. But I never let anyone down who trusts Me. Yes, you experienced pain. No, it didn’t overcome you. You made it through because of Me.
“Many people believe that My voice will make their lives easier. It does make your life stronger and deeper, but it will rarely make things simpler for you. You will be led into battles and intense situations that need My touch. You will always be given the best instructions, but seldom the easiest ones. I will lead you into the places of greatest need in this world because you heard and responded to Me, qualifying yourself to be My instrument in those places. I speak strength and encouragement into your heart because you will need them.
“Don’t lower your expectations for what you might hear from Me. Raise them higher. You will go on great but challenging adventures. And I will be with you in all of them.”
LET'S PRAY...
Honestly, Lord, Your ways scare me a little. But they also excite me. I am willing to go anywhere and do anything as long as I know You are with me.

TITLE: 23-014 THEY HEARD JESUS SPEAK
VERSE: [Jesus said,] “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now.” JOHN 16:12
Jesus promised His disciples that they would receive the Holy Spirit after He was gone and that the Spirit would guide them into all truth.
This is not simply a promise to future writers of the New Testament. Jesus is speaking to the entire inner circle of His disciples (minus Judas).
Only three of these men would later pen portions of Scripture, and at least six other followers of Christ who did not hear these words would write more than half of the New Testament.
Nor is this a prediction that Jesus would spend some time with them between His resurrection and ascension.
In the book of Acts, Paul is talking to a crowd of people in Pisidian Antioch, and he says that “the Holy Spirit spoke through me” (Acts 13:2).
This statement implies much more than a few days of conversation.
No, this is a promise to speak to all believers, after the Resurrection, on an ongoing basis. We know that early believers expected to hear Christ’s voice—people such as Agabus, Philip’s daughters, members of the Corinthian church, and many more are said to have exercised prophetic gifts.
They heard Jesus speak and confidently shared His message with others.
Jesus still speaks to His people today.
He draws them into a relationship with Him; He leads them in ways they need to go; He calls people into ministry; He teaches them the deeper ways of His Spirit; and then He speaks through them to others.
God promised that we would hear a voice telling us which way to go (Isaiah 30:21), and Jesus was very clear that His sheep would know His voice (John 10:3-4, 16, 27).
This is normal for our relationship with God.
You can't hear God's voice if you don't believe Jesus has plenty to say to you.
That's why it's so important to take time to build your relationship with Him. It's like building a friendship: You have to spend time together, do things together, and get to know each other. Then the friendship can grow deeper, richer, and more meaningful.
Easier said than done? Maybe… but it's also worth it!
LET'S PRAY...
Jesus, strengthen my faith to believe. As I search for the sound of Your voice, help me not to question whether You want to speak. You do —You have made that clear. Help me to hear all that You have to say.

TITLE: 23-013 GOING OUT OF BUSINESS
VERSE: I am the LORD who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land as your possession. GENESIS 15:7
What would you do if God told you to go out of business?
I don't know about you, but that's a question I've never thought about. But it's one that a man named Abraham had to consider when God told him to close his doors and hold a going-out-of-business sale.
Abraham was a successful businessman. He had been blessed by God with a thriving business, and he had even been told by God that he would be the father of many nations (Genesis 17:5). So when God told him to close up shop and go out of business, it seemed like bad advice.
That's exactly what his wife thought when Abraham told her what God had said. She loved Abraham deeply, but she wasn't so sure about this plan—and neither was Abraham himself!
But God doesn't give bad advice. And sometimes His voice can't be so easily dismissed as a misunderstanding or mishearing or something else that could be solved simply by talking things through with your spouse (or anyone else). This word was clear: "Go out of business."
It's easy to second-guess God when things don't go as planned.
After a year of doubting God and wondering if He had misled this couple, they finally saw how the Lord began to provide new opportunities. The career change ended up being one of the best things that ever happened to them. They have prospered ever since. But it wasn’t easy at first.
Following God rarely is. It takes time to see the fruits of obedience.
There’s a common theme in Scripture, and it’s one that has been repeated throughout the ages. God calls us to leave home and go to a land He will show us later.
Abraham had plenty of opportunities to second-guess his decision to follow God—his wife was even captured at one point—but he eventually saw that following always proved to be the right thing to do. That’s what life is like when you believe God speaks.
He leads in ways that, on the surface, don’t always make sense.
He's got a plan for us, and we'll find out what it is in due time. All we have to do is listen.
LET'S PRAY...
Lord, if You will speak to me clearly, I’ll go in any direction You tell me, regardless of what other people think about it or how much sense it makes to me at the time. My steps belong to You.

TITLE: 23-012 HE SPOKE IT...
VERSE: God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. GENESIS 1:3
From the earliest pages of Scripture, God’s voice plays a prominent role. This is how He created the world. He spoke. He didn’t just think the world into being. Neither did He silently put it together in some divine workshop. He spoke, and it was.
This is not only an act of power and authority; it’s also an act of intimacy. It shows us that God speaks to us as well—not just in the grandeur of creation but in our own lives as well. We can hear His voice calling us by name when we are lost or confused or unsure if we are doing what we ought to be doing with our lives. When we listen for His voice, we hear Him speaking directly to us about what He wants from us and how He wants us to live our lives today—and every day after that.
All throughout Scripture, we see the power of the spoken word. It can be created, it can be altered or broken, and it has an effect on those who hear it.
In John 10:35, Jesus says that His words are not only written down in Scripture but also "are spirit and are life." In other words, they have a supernatural effect on those who hear them.
He spoke prophecies to His messengers, who then declared them to others.
The Bible says in Isaiah 55:11 that God’s word will accomplish its purpose—it will not return to Him empty and unfulfilled but will cultivate the fruit He desires just as rain waters the land. Unlike us, He does not scatter His words randomly or carelessly; they are intentional agents of His will.
If you’re like most people, when you hear the word “authority,” you think of an army general or a police officer with a heavy-handed approach to getting things done. But that’s not what I mean by authority.
When I say authority, I don’t mean power—I mean responsibility. Authority is a sacred trust that we have been given to care for and steward all that God has put into our hands. It means that when we hear from God, we cannot treat His voice as an item on the buffet line — available if we’re interested but easily passed over if we’re not. When He reveals something to us, no matter how difficult or unrealistic it may seem, we’re obligated to believe it and receive it. We don’t have the option of saying, “Maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t.” We don’t have a right to say, “Maybe I’ll accept it, maybe I won’t.” It is binding.
The voice that spoke worlds into being is the same one that speaks to me.
It says, “You are loved.” It says, “You are enough.” It says, “You have worth.”
I don’t have to create my own worth—it’s already there, because of who I am in Christ.
Point. Blank. Period.
LET'S PRAY...
Lord, please speak specifically, powerfully, and purposefully into my life —with words that cannot and will not return to You empty.

TITLE: 23-011 HIS PLANS FOR US
VERSE: When the Spirit of truth comes, he will . . . tell you about the future. JOHN 16:13
One of the things that makes life so hard is that we're always trying to figure out "what's next".
We want to know where we're going, what we're doing, and who we'll be with. We want to know how long it will take and whether or not we'll be able to handle it. We want to know if there are any surprises along the way and if there are, whether they'll be good ones or bad ones.
God knows everything about us and our future, but He doesn't reveal all of it at once because He wants us to feel free and unencumbered by the knowledge of every single detail of our lives before they even happen. He wants us to be able to choose what we do with each day as it comes; otherwise, it would all feel too much like fate rather than freedom.
But here's a secret: God does give us glimpses into His plan for our lives...sometimes—and sometimes even more than just a glimpse—when He sends His Spirit (which is also called the Holy Ghost). When that happens, you will know about it...maybe.
I'm a big believer in the power of prophecy.
It's one of my favorite things about the Bible.
I know, I know: it seems like everyone's always talking about prophecy these days—but that's because it's so important!
Let me tell you why: first, it gives us a sense of purpose. We know that God hasn't left us out here on our own without any direction or guidance; He's given us glimpses into what His plan is for us and for the world! It makes me feel like there really is a master plan at work, and that we're all just little pieces of something bigger than ourselves.
And second, prophecy helps us prepare our hearts for what's coming next. If I know that something bad is happening soon, then I can start thinking about how to deal with it now—not when it happens! Or if God tells me He has something special planned for my life in five years' time, then I can start praying about how to get ready for that now instead of waiting until then. It helps me focus on what matters most in my life right now—and keeps me from getting distracted by things that aren't as important as Him anyway.
We’re all struggling, but we can overcome our doubts and fears by leaning on God’s Word and His Spirit.
We need to have a vision for our lives. We need to have a plan for our future—and an expectation of God’s goodness in it.
I believe that we are called to greatness in Christ, but we must be willing to work hard and go through pain in order to get there.
LET'S PRAY...
Holy Spirit, tell me things about the future. Lead me in the ways I need to go. Give me pictures of my purpose and Your plans. Open up Your secrets for me to treasure.

TITLE: 23-010 MYSTERIES OF THE RELATIONSHIP
VERSE: When the Spirit of truth comes, he will . . . not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. JOHN 16:13
The Holy Spirit. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding Him, and some of it is just plain confusing.
But when you take a closer look at the role He plays in our lives, it all starts to make sense.
It’s like this: The Father hears from the Son, and the Son hears from the Father—but it’s only through the Holy Spirit that they can hear each other. He connects them so they can communicate with one another, but He isn’t the initiator; He simply lets them know what each other is thinking.
At times Scripture refers to Him as God’s Spirit and at other times as the Spirit of Jesus Christ (John 14:16-17). Either way, He knows their heartbeats because He is part of their trinity.
We often strain to hear God’s voice externally, but the Spirit resides within us. That’s why His voice in our lives is rarely audible, as it was with Moses or Samuel, at Jesus’ baptism, or at Paul’s conversion. Far more often—in fact, almost always—it’s that river of living water flowing out of us, like a well bubbling up from the deep source of life in our human spirit. When God speaks, it usually comes from within.
God speaks to us through the Bible and through His Word, but He also speaks to us through our own hearts. He speaks when we feel overwhelmed by what we face in life and He speaks when we feel like nothing matters anymore.
We can know that God is speaking to us when we feel compelled to pray or when we have an overwhelming desire to serve others that seems inexplicable by any earthly reason.
I think one of the most important things we can do as Christians...is to learn how to hear the voice of God.
I believe that we are all called to hear Him, but too often we confuse our own desires and expectations with His will for us. We hear what we want to hear, not what He wants us to hear. But what if there was a way for us to be able to discern between the two? What if there was a way for us to know when God is speaking?
The answer is found in Scripture: "My sheep know my voice." (John 10:27). In other words, if we want to learn how God speaks, then we must learn His voice! And the best place for us to start listening is right where Jesus says it all begins… in the Word of God. Your Bible.
Again...first and foremost...if you want to hear His voice...first...listen for His Heartbeat.
LET'S PRAY...
Holy Spirit, speak to me the things of the Father and the Son. You showed Jesus what the Father was doing and what He said; do so with me, too. Present the ideas of heaven within my spirit.

TITLE: 23-009 FACE TO FACE WITH JESUS
VERSE: When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. JOHN 16:13, NIV
In today's podcast, we're going to talk about Jesus' parting words to the disciples.
When Jesus gave the disciples their marching orders, He told them it would be better for Him to leave and for his Spirit to come and fill them to the point of overflowing. But then He said something even more audacious: This Spirit-filled life that I'm about to give you is better than anything I could ever do with miracles and signs or even talking face-to-face with you. They would be better equipped to hear and handle truth.
Remember how Jesus talked about how much He loved them? Well, now He was saying goodbye. And not only that—He was saying goodbye so they could have a relationship with Him that was deeper than they'd ever dreamed possible!
We live in a world where it's easy to feel overwhelmed by choice. When we try to make decisions, we are often faced with so many options that we just don't know which way to go.
But what if you could have a guide who would help you choose the best option? What if that guide could help you understand what the right decision looks like?
Jesus said that His Spirit is your teacher and counselor—a guide who will lead you into truth. And when you don't know what the truth is for a specific situation, He will continue to lead you toward it as well.
If you're looking for guidance in your life, remember that God has given us all the guidance we need in His Word—and through His Spirit.
The most important thing you can do to be more sensitive to the voice of God is to spend time with Him.
I know that sounds obvious, but I'm serious. If we want to hear God's voice, then it's crucial that we spend quality time with Him.
When Jesus was on earth, He spent all of His time with the Father. When He was tired and hungry, He went into a desert place where He could be alone with the Father. When He needed strength or guidance, He went back into the desert and prayed for those things (Matthew 4:1-11).
Jesus taught us that this is how we should live our lives too—to be constantly connected with God through prayer and communion (Matthew 6:6).
LET'S PRAY...
Holy Spirit, fill me with Your thoughts, acquaint me with Your ways, saturate me in Your presence. Help me to hear Your voice as You breathe into me moment by moment.

TITLE: 23-008 FROM THE HEART OF GOD
VERSE: The LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! ISAIAH 30:18, NIV
“You may think it strange that I long to be gracious to My people, as if I have to wait to express My feelings toward you, to be merciful, or to act on your behalf. But sometimes if I acted on My compassion in the way you would like, you would receive it as an endorsement of your current direction or be overwhelmed by the weight of it. I want to do some wonderful things in your life, but My love for you demands that I wait until you can handle them well. So the expression of My compassion lingers.
“So does My voice. I long to speak to you with the same kind of longing that stirs My compassion. Why don’t I, you ask? Because I have chosen to respect your willingness. I can do anything I want, but I don’t often intrude on people’s lives and force a relationship on them. I’ve startled a few choice servants throughout history by surprising them with My voice, but generally I wait for people to come to Me. The relationship is much more satisfying for both of us that way. I much prefer that you realize you have this longing deep in your heart than for Me to tell you that you do.
“So you are blessed if you turn toward Me —and blessed if you wait for Me. Many cry out to Me, but not many wait. If you do both, you will be one of the few. You must understand that My heart of compassion is instantaneous, but My acts of compassion are not. Sometimes I wait for you, and sometimes I expect you to wait for Me. You will always be glad when you do.”
LET'S PRAY...
Father, I need to know Your compassion even before I see it, and I need to know You will speak even before I hear. Give me the resolve and the tenacity to wait for You. You reward those who diligently seek You; I commit to being one of those who do.

TITLE: 23-007 REMAIN CALM AND TRUST GOD
VERSE: You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. PSALM 139:5
The pastor was on his way to visit a church member who had recently been diagnosed with cancer. He was praying for the man and for his family when he heard it in his spirit: “The evil one cannot touch you.”
He knew that this statement was not just for him, but also for the man he was going to see. He also knew that this phrase would be an encouragement to them both when they needed it most.
That morning, he had prepared himself by reading scripture and praying. So when he heard this message, he knew that God had given it specifically to him and to this man at this time—to prepare them both for the difficult day ahead. It wasn't until later that day when the attacks came that he understood why God had given him this assurance: so that he could remain calm and trust God when things got tough.
When you're going through something hard, it can be easy to feel like the world is crumbling around you. We have no idea what's coming next, and we're convinced that our lives are taking a turn for the worst.
But if we remember to remain calm and trust God, we'll realize that He already knows what's coming—and He prepared us for it! The messages we receive from Him don't make sense at first because we have no context for them. But in retrospect, they are very reassuring. If we had heard Him afterward, we would wonder if we heard only what we wanted to hear. But when He tells us ahead of time, we know it isn't a figment of our imagination. That may not change the situation, but it can certainly change our response to it. Only God can give us assurance before we need it because only He knows what's going to happen.
Sometimes, we can't see the big picture. Sometimes, it feels like we're lost and alone. But I want you to know that you're not.
As you go through life, remember this: there's a reason why God has placed you where you are right now. He has a plan for your future that is bigger than anything you could ever imagine—and He's got your back every step of the way.
So make it a habit to listen in the morning for whatever verses God gives you and whatever impressions He whispers into your spirit. Write them down. They may seem random at the time, but if you review them at the end of the day, you may find a correlation between what He said and what you experienced. Not only will this encourage you in times of need, but it will also confirm that you are hearing God’s voice —and that He goes before you to bless you.
LET'S PRAY...
Holy Spirit, speak to me in the morning about the journey ahead. Prepare me for each day. Let me experience the comfort of knowing that You are already watching over my future.
