The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: FALLING SHORT

EPISODE: 22-261

VERSE: Those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did. 1 JOHN 2:5-6

✔️ - Jesus asked His followers a penetrating question: “Why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?”

✔️ - To hear God’s voice without doing what He says is at best negligent and at worst hypocritical.

✔️ - John had harsh words to say about this phenomenon.

✔️ - And when we declare with our actions that we are serious about doing what God says, what He says becomes a lot easier to hear.

TAKEAWAY:  But when we accept the whole package of what His voice brings us, we get the whole package. We tend to approach Him to hear what we want to hear. He approaches us with an all-or-nothing proposition. To hear Him, we need to hear on His terms.

PRAYER:  Lord, I want it all  —everything You say. I’ll take the difficult with the easy because it’s all from You. Tell me Your joys, Your secrets, and Your commands.

TITLE: APPEALED TO GOD

EPISODE: 22-260

VERSE: O our God, . . . we do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help. 2 CHRONICLES 20:12

✔️ - Jehoshaphat’s most famous battle began in desperation and ended without anyone in Israel actually having to fight.

✔️ - And that’s when he heard from God.

✔️ - Honesty, humility, and faith are the right posture for hearing from God about anything.

✔️ - That’s a powerful combination.

TAKEAWAY:  Look to Him in every desperate situation. But look knowing that He will step in with His wisdom, power, and love.

PRAYER:  Lord, I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on You. You have invested a lot in me, and I know You will continue Your work. Let me know what You want me to do.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: FROM THE HEART OF GOD

EPISODE: 22-259

VERSE: [The Lord said,] “When I give you a message, I will loosen your tongue and let you speak.” EZEKIEL 3:27

✔️ - “My Son told His followers not to worry about what they would say in crucial moments.

✔️ - When you need to express My truth, I will loosen your tongue to speak it.

✔️ - “Don’t be surprised that your personality and Mine are growing closer together.

✔️ - I will use you as My mouthpiece and fill you with My truth.

TAKEAWAY:  They will feel the weight of My words even when they don’t recognize My voice. And you will experience the power of My purposes and the joy of being My messenger.”

PRAYER:  Lord, use my words to impact others. Loosen my tongue to express Your messages. May I never dismiss my words as insignificant. They always have the potential to reveal Your heart.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: OPPOSITION

EPISODE: 22-258

VERSE: Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. MATTHEW 28:19

✔️ - When William Carey was called to missions, hardly anyone thought it was a good idea.

✔️ - Yet Carey persisted because he was convinced he had heard God’s call.

✔️ - How did that call come to Carey?

✔️ - He felt God’s compassion, and he took that  —later reinforced by scriptural instruction  —to be God’s voice to him.

TAKEAWAY:  He can spark our true, divinely ordained passions through art, music, science, adventure, and all other human endeavors. He knows how to capture our hearts, and He uses a multitude of means to do so. He speaks by stirring and cultivating our interests.

PRAYER:  Lord, like William Carey, I want to “expect great things” from You and “attempt great things” for You. Toward that end, spark my heart however You choose. There is no division between sacred and secular in Your Kingdom. I embrace everything You use, every hint of Your voice, as sacred to me.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: GOSPEL OF GRACE

EPISODE: 22-257

VERSE: Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. JOSHUA 1:7

✔️ - God told Joshua to adhere strictly to the instructions He had given through Moses.

✔️ - This would be the key to his success.

✔️ - Most Christians don’t necessarily have the same mind-set as Joshua, and it’s true that the gospel of grace gives us a different approach to God’s instructions.

✔️ - We don’t earn righteousness with our works, but our heart-connection with God should produce certain changes in our lives.

TAKEAWAY:  But how we follow will lead us either deeper into the relationship or deeper into self-effort and fruitless legalism. If we really want to reap the benefit of hearing God’s voice, we will cling relentlessly to His words for no other reason than that we love Him.

PRAYER:  Lord, my response matters to You. You give me the paths to Your blessings, and I want to follow them tenaciously. You have declared me righteous; now help me live out that truth in practice.

TITLE: MOTIVES MATTER

EPISODE: 22-256

VERSE: You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today, nor follow after other gods and worship them. DEUTERONOMY 28:14

✔️ - Many religions seek to shape behavior.

✔️ - All of our actions should flow out of that relationship.

✔️ - In Deuteronomy, God’s people are told repeatedly to stay close to God’s commands and refuse to turn away from them.

✔️ - Anything less is just stale religion.

TAKEAWAY:  But our deeper motive is to love God with all our hearts. With God, motives always matter.

PRAYER:  Father, I do love You; help me love You more. Following Your words works out well for me, but may I always do it to please You. May my heart always be motivated by passion for You.

TITLE: WANDERING

EPISODE: 22-255

VERSE: The LORD spoke to you from the heart of the fire. You heard the sound of his words but didn’t see his form; there was only a voice. DEUTERONOMY 4:12

✔️ - After a generation of wandering in the wilderness, and before they were to begin their entry into the Promised Land...

✔️ - They were awed by His presence.

✔️ - But they didn’t see His form.

✔️ - He showed as much of Himself as they could handle.

TAKEAWAY:  The hidden is always being unveiled, but not fully. And we are given an invitation to accept as much of it as we will.

PRAYER:  Lord, I hear Your voice, but I don’t see Your form. But You allow me to accept as much as I can of what You reveal. Help me accept Your revelation and trust whatever I don’t see beyond it.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: HIS MOUTH

EPISODE: 22-254

VERSE: [The Father] chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created. JAMES 1:18, NIV

✔️ - The words of God  —both the written Word and every utterance that comes out of His mouth  —are alive.

✔️ - They seem to have a life of their own because they come from the mouth of the Living One, the source of all life.

✔️ - We need life.

✔️ - When we hear Him, we are sustained, secure, and satisfied. When we don’t, we aren’t.

TAKEAWAY:  We need to hear Him more than we need to eat, sleep, or breathe.

PRAYER:  Lord, I am born from Your Word and will seek Your words every day, now and forever. Your voice fills me with life.

TITLE: BEING FILLED

EPISODE: 22-253

VERSE: I [Paul] pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. ROMANS 15:13

✔️ - These words are Scripture. This means that even though they were written by Paul, they are also God’s words.

✔️ - He will almost always include words of hope, joy, and peace.

✔️ - That doesn’t mean God will never correct us, of course; we’ve seen too many times in Scripture when He spoke uncomfortable truths to His people.

✔️ - When we need strength and encouragement, God’s words will give them to us.

TAKEAWAY:  The power that works within you is greater than any power around you. Let the environment of heaven invade your spirit, and your spirit will overflow into the world around you.

PRAYER:  Spirit of God, source of hope, manifest Your power in me. Fill me to overflowing with hope, joy, and peace as I exercise trust in You. Let these attitudes be a magnet for Your voice, and let Your voice speak these attitudes into me even stronger.

TITLE: FROM THE HEART OF GOD

EPISODE: 22-252

VERSE: [The Lord said,] “Get up and go out into the valley, and I will speak to you there.” EZEKIEL 3:22

✔️ - “If you want to encounter Me, go where I tell you.

✔️ - When I speak, sometimes location matters.

✔️ - “I am not bound by geography, but I often use it to make a point.

✔️ - Your location can affect what you hear.

TAKEAWAY:  “Don’t resist the impulses I give you to position yourself to hear. I will make them clear to you, but you must follow them. You will encounter Me in places you never expected.”

PRAYER:  Lord, I would go to the ends of the earth to hear Your voice. But I don’t want to wander aimlessly. Take me where You want me to go and speak to me there. If you need to change my view to show Your glory, I’m all for it.
