THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: WHAT DID YOU HEAR?

EPISODE: 22-240

VERSE: One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.” ACTS 13:2

✔️ - Men from the church at Antioch were worshiping...

✔️ - Journeys to far reaches of the empire that would dramatically influence world history.

✔️ - What exactly did these men hear?

✔️ - The men knew they had heard from God.

TAKEAWAY:  As far as we can tell, they had nothing on their to-do list other than caring for God’s heart. And that created the right environment for them to hear world-changing instructions.

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, I want to hear Your voice just as the men in Antioch did. But more than that, I want to express my love through worship. You are always my highest priority.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: FEED ME

EPISODE: 22-239

VERSE: I [Ezra] proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. EZRA 8:21, NKJV

✔️ - Some translations say that Ezra proclaimed a fast to ask God for a safe journey, and certainly that’s true.

✔️ - So Ezra and the people fasted and prayed, listening for God and asking for His protection and provision.

✔️ - Many modern Christians don’t understand the purpose of fasting, but it’s nevertheless a well-founded biblical practice.

✔️ - It’s a tangible and conscious shift in our priorities.

TAKEAWAY:  All we think about is our lack of food and the reason for it. In so doing, we cry with intensity to the God we long to hear from. And He loves to respond to such cries.

PRAYER:  Father, for a time, I forsake my physical senses in order to heighten my spiritual senses. Amplify Your voice during this time. Hear my cries. Lead me in the right way.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: FROM THE HEART OF GOD

EPISODE: 22-238

VERSE: Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. Then go to your people in exile and say to them, “This is what the Sovereign LORD says!” Do this whether they listen to you or not. EZEKIEL 3:10-11

✔️ - “I have many servants who think they are expressing My will simply by passing along the information that’s in My Word."

✔️ - "My desire is for you to embody My truth and then just be who you are."

✔️ - “You have no idea how much pleasure it gives Me when you savor My words..."

✔️ - "I want to bless you, and this is how I can."

TAKEAWAY:  “When you do this, you will share My desires and see them fulfilled in your life. You will embody My truth and impart it to others. You will become more than a servant. You’ll be a friend.”

PRAYER:  Lord, I want that. Whatever benefits and blessings there might be, I want to become one with You, not only in principle but also in experience. I want to embody who You are  —in Spirit and in Word.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: FRUSTRATED

EPISODE: 22-236

VERSE: I posted watchmen over you who said, “Listen for the sound of the alarm.” But you replied, “No! We won’t pay attention!” JEREMIAH 6:17

✔️ - Both God and Jeremiah were frustrated.

✔️ - They missed God’s voice because they tuned it out.

✔️ - The number one obstacle to hearing God is a calloused heart.

✔️ - They chose spiritual deafness.

TAKEAWAY:  But when we open ourselves to anything God wants to say, He can say anything. When He has our attention, He is much more generous with His.

PRAYER:  Lord, there are things I don’t want You to say to me  —things that don’t fit with my dreams and desires  —yet if they are Your will, I need to hear them. My ears are open even to Your correction. I am paying full attention to You.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: INSIGHTS

EPISODE: 22-235

VERSE: This is what the LORD says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.” JEREMIAH 6:16

✔️ - Our quest to hear God always brings us to an intersection of the new and the old.

✔️ - And we may need to take our focus off of getting “new truth” and put it on what God has already said.

✔️ - Thousands of years of revelation have been laid out behind us.

✔️ - We have to see into His heart.

TAKEAWAY:  Stop at the crossroads and look at where He has been. Then you will know where He is going and be able to fall in step with Him.

PRAYER:  Lord, give me deep, rich insights into Your Word. Show me ancient paths and eternal meaning. Let me see into Your heart.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: DIRECTION

EPISODE: 22-234

VERSE: Tell [the leaders of Israel], “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: The people of Israel have set up idols in their hearts and fallen into sin, and then they go to a prophet asking for a message. So I, the LORD, will give them the kind of answer their great idolatry deserves. . . . And if a prophet is deceived into giving a message, it is because I, the LORD, have deceived that prophet.” EZEKIEL 14:4, 9

✔️ - It’s a frightening prospect.

✔️ - He will lead them in a way that fits their wandering hearts.

✔️ - As people who know the fickleness of our own hearts...

✔️ - What if we are the faithless generation that is always looking for signs and hearing only what we want to hear?

TAKEAWAY:  He will never mislead those who sincerely seek Him with submissive hearts.

PRAYER:  Lord, I fear getting it wrong. I know my own heart. But I’m not listening selectively or to feed my idols. Guide me into truth  —whatever Your truth entails for my life.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: DOORS

EPISODE: 22-233

VERSE: What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open. REVELATION 3:7

✔️ - Sometimes we attempt to go through an open door, and God shuts it.

✔️ - God is using those doors to direct us.

✔️ - God may speak through the opportunities set before us.

✔️ - We have to be careful in making assumptions about situations that seem impossible.

TAKEAWAY:  Take great comfort in the fact that you can’t force your way through a door that God has closed nor be blocked from a door He has opened. No one can undo His will for your life if you are trusting and following Him. He will open the right way for you in His time.

PRAYER:  Lord, please open every door I should go through and close every one I shouldn’t. And if I find more than one door open, give me the wisdom to know which one to choose.

TITLE: HIS DIRECTION

EPISODE: 22-232

VERSE: The LORD asked [Moses], “What is that in your hand?” EXODUS 4:2

✔️ - Moses raised all kinds of objections to God’s call...

✔️ - God’s power accompanies what we already have in our hands if we use it according to His direction.

✔️ - Your life is filled with assets: your natural gifts and talents, spiritual gifts, material resources, education and experience, job, geographic location, and more.

✔️ - His voice will likely tell you to throw it down before Him and see what He does with it.

TAKEAWAY:  As you “throw them down”  —offer them to Him for His use  —some of them will come alive in ways you’ve never experienced before. What He has done in your past very often points toward what He will do in your future.

PRAYER:  Lord, the past You have guided me through is speaking to me about the future You are guiding me into. Show me what You can do with the things in my hands. All I have is Yours to use.
