PRAYER:  Living Word, is this why following Your voice has always been so hard? Put Your truth in me; let me consume with my mouth whatever comes out of Yours. And help me embody Your voice and speak to others the words that come straight from Your heart.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: CLOSED DOORS

EPISODE: 22-229

VERSE: The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.” PSALM 32:8-9

✔️ - You’ve prayed for guidance and pursued the direction you thought you heard from God.

✔️ - So you start back at square one and hope that God eventually leads you to the right path.

✔️ - It happens all the time, doesn’t it? And it can be terribly frustrating.

✔️ - We crave a tangible conversation up front in which He tells us what to do, not an after-the-fact wondering where we went wrong.

TAKEAWAY:  There’s no shame in the latter  —the Bible is filled with examples of people who started out in one direction and had to be redirected  —and the key is to be responsive as we go. But God promises to lead us sometimes before we even start. He will guide, advise, and watch over every step.

PRAYER:  Lord, neither You nor I want me to be like a senseless animal. I’m tired of bouncing from door to door. Please speak clearly and tell me which way to go. My heart’s desire is to hear what You say and respond to it.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: ENCOUNTERS

EPISODE: 22-228

VERSE: Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. ACTS 2:17

✔️ - On the day of Pentecost, when God poured out His Spirit on all the believers who were gathered, Peter quoted the prophet Joel about the “last days.”

✔️ - God would no longer have to speak through a small group of prophets and priests. He would speak to them directly.

✔️ - If that was true during Peter’s days, and Joel called them the “last” or “latter” days, then we must still be living in that era.

✔️ - No one has to say, “Know the Lord,” because all are able to know Him already (Jeremiah 31:34; Hebrews 8:11). He is no longer an obscure God.

TAKEAWAY:  We must pray, pursue, and press in to Him, but He will make it happen. We live in an age of open communication with the divine.

PRAYER:  Spirit of God, I long for clearer expressions of Your truth. Let me see visions and dream dreams, whatever that looks like and however You want to shape them. May the free-flowing spiritual environment of Pentecost be a reality in my life today.

TITLE: OBSERVING

EPISODE: 22-227

VERSE: [Solomon] could speak with authority about all kinds of plants, from the great cedar of Lebanon to the tiny hyssop that grows from cracks in a wall. He could also speak about animals, birds, small creatures, and fish. 1 KINGS 4:33

✔️ - The sages of Israel believed that God’s wisdom was liberally infused in His creation.

✔️ - By observing the things God has made, sages believed they could learn some things about God’s ways.

✔️ - We can too. God has filled creation with illustrations of His ways and His attributes.

✔️ - God has written Himself into His world.

TAKEAWAY:  The physical reflects the spiritual more often than we imagine. And in that reflection, we can hear the voice of the one who made it.

PRAYER:  Lord, I would love to recapture the curiosity I had as a child, and I know I would learn more about You and Your ways if I could. Fill me with an inquisitive spirit that seeks out Your truths in the forms and functions of Your world.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: OBEDIENCE

EPISODE: 22-226

VERSE: I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. JOHN 5:19

✔️ - Some people see Jesus as the exception.

✔️ - We are to hear Him and respond as a way of life.

✔️ - How can we see what the Father is doing?

✔️ - Because He wants us to live with a constant awareness of Him, He will make constant awareness a real possibility.

TAKEAWAY:  Hearing His voice isn’t nearly as difficult when we’re aware of His activity and partnering with Him in it.

PRAYER:  Lord, imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it’s also the sincerest form of worship I can offer You. Heighten my spiritual senses to recognize Your footprint everywhere You go so I can do what You’re doing.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: HIS SHEEP

EPISODE: 22-225

VERSE: [Jesus said,] “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me.” JOHN 10:14

✔️ - Most Christians are familiar with the verse that says the sheep follow the shepherd “because they know his voice” (John 10:4).

✔️ - The sheep pick up on the scent and the voice and the mannerisms of the Shepherd.

✔️ - We tend to try to sort out this familiarity with logic.

✔️ - It may be covered up with normal thought processes and emotions, but it’s there. We know Him because . . . we just do.

TAKEAWAY:  They carry His personality and look like His work. Deep within every sheep, the Shepherd’s voice rings true.

PRAYER:  Jesus, I’m not even going to try to figure it out. Help me sense, deep in my spirit, Your presence and voice. May everything in Your Kingdom and in Your heart feel like “home” to me.

TITLE: FROM THE HEART OF GOD

EPISODE: 22-224

VERSE: I am sending you to say to [the nation of Israel], “This is what the Sovereign LORD says!” And whether they listen or refuse to listen  —for remember, they are rebels  —at least they will know they have had a prophet among them. EZEKIEL 2:4-5

✔️ - “I am the living Word."

✔️ - "They have ruled out the possibility of hearing My voice and telling others what I’ve said."

✔️ - “It isn’t presumptuous to be a prophetic voice if I’ve told you to be one."

✔️ - "I intend to maintain a voice in this world, and for many hearers, you’re it."

TAKEAWAY:  "I will speak clearly to those who are willing to declare what they have heard. Get in touch with My heartbeat, and I will send you on a mission to demonstrate it.”

PRAYER:  Sovereign Lord, were your words to Ezekiel really for us, too? Your Spirit fills all of us who believe, not just a select few, so it must be true. Give me words to say, feelings to portray, and thoughts to convey. Fill me with the heart of Your mission.

TITLE: CONTEXT

EPISODE: 22-223

PRAYER:  Lord, who can grasp Your thoughts unless You enable, inspire, and interpret? My experiences and intellect are not enough. I need the wisdom of Your Spirit as I read and meditate. Unveil Your truth to me, in me, and through me.
