The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: DETOURS

EPISODE: 22-211

VERSE: [The Lord said,] “I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” JEREMIAH 1:12, NIV

✔️ - Countless people are holding on to what they believe is a God-given dream...

✔️ - It often seems as if God speaks and then sits on His words without doing anything about them.

✔️ - As frustrating as this is, it’s normal for God.

✔️ - God has a confounding tendency to speak long before He plans to fulfill.

TAKEAWAY:  If He has said it, He will act on it. He is watching to see that His words are fulfilled.

PRAYER:  Lord, I don’t understand why Your process takes so long, nor why the path is so indirect. But I trust You. I know Your words are true, even years after You’ve spoken them. I’m choosing to cling to them in faith.

✔️ - “Hear My open invitation."

✔️ - "There’s only one condition: You have to open your mouth wide."

✔️ - “What does it mean to open your mouth wide?"

✔️ - "Always expect to receive more."

TAKEAWAY:  "Don’t just bring Me possibilities; bring Me all your impossibilities. In every request, assume My willingness to give. This is faith. Know the heart of the one to whom you pray.”

PRAYER:  Lord, forgive me for thinking too small. Fill me with hope and faith for everything You want to give, whether big or small, possible or impossible, conventional or extraordinary. You are the God who gives  —and says  —good things.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: DIVINE NATURE

EPISODE: 22-209

VERSE: The promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. ROMANS 4:16

✔️ - John Wesley was born into a Christian home, knew the Bible well, and had served as a missionary in colonial Georgia.

✔️ - The general work of Christ became very personal.

✔️ - In that highly subjective experience, Wesley found Christ to be his Savior.

✔️ - Zealously served God for the rest of his life.

TAKEAWAY:  And when that happens, the once-objective information suddenly becomes deeply and warmly personal. It lights a fire in the heart that cannot be quenched.

PRAYER:  Lord, I beg You  —light a fire in my heart. I would love to be “strangely warmed” by Your presence and Your words. I need to know not just that You love the world but that You love me personally. Hound me until my heart awakens fully to You.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: GOD INSPIRES

EPISODE: 22-208

VERSE: Believe in [the Lord’s] prophets, and you will succeed. 2 CHRONICLES 20:20

✔️ - When Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah were surrounded by threatening armies, they cried out to God in desperation.

✔️ - Prepare for the battle the next day.

✔️ - It isn’t unusual to be fully inspired and encouraged by God in the evening and wake up the next day with a deflated spirit.

✔️ - Jehoshaphat was confident that the key to success was believing in God’s prophets.

TAKEAWAY:  Believing His prophets  —those who share and declare His thoughts  —is the key to victory in any area of life.

PRAYER:  Lord, what are You saying to me through Your people? If I err in understanding, may it be on the side of belief rather than skepticism. Show me the path to success in all Your purposes.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: LOOKING FOOLISH

EPISODE: 22-207

VERSE: Do not rebel against the LORD, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the LORD is with us! Don’t be afraid of them! NUMBERS 14:9

✔️ - Moses sent twelve spies into the Promised Land...

✔️ - Their faith was seen as foolish.

✔️ - Faith often looks foolish, and “realistic” people are quick to offer more practical wisdom.

✔️ - We serve a God who does what He says He will do. He follows through on His words.

TAKEAWAY:  His words become personal in your specific situation, they can be trusted. Cling to them. Whatever God has spoken to you, don’t let the obstacles around you persuade you otherwise. Never let go of His promises.

PRAYER:  Lord, it is so difficult to believe Your promises when circumstances and the “wisdom” of others dictate against them. But Your words are bigger to me than the giants around me are. I choose always to believe what You have said.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: REMINDING GOD

EPISODE: 22-206

VERSE: Whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it. But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted. EXODUS 40:36-37

✔️ - We have decisions to make, so we ask for guidance.

✔️ - We use our best judgment and trust that it fits with His will.

✔️ - Sometimes God wants us to move forward in the wisdom and discernment we already have...

✔️ - Far too often, we fill the gaps with our own assumptions. We make decisions before we’ve heard God’s directions.

TAKEAWAY:  God wants us to ask and wait. And wait some more. And wait even more  —until we’ve heard. No time is wasted in this process; when we follow the “cloud” of direction, God gives us a direct path into His will.

PRAYER:  Lord, You direct my paths, sometimes much more methodically than I want. Give me a patient spirit; help me not rush to judgment; undo my assumptions. And when I’ve heard from You, I’ll follow with confidence.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: NATURE OF GOD

EPISODE: 22-205

VERSE: The LORD did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people. EXODUS 13:22

✔️ - In the Chronicles of Narnia series, the lion Aslan rarely makes his presence known, except at critical moments of need.

✔️ - He makes sure the children get where they need to go.

✔️ - It isn’t difficult to recognize in this illustration the nature of God in the ways He guides and protects us.

✔️ - We are hearing Him even when we think we hear nothing. He does not remove His sovereign guidance from our lives.

TAKEAWAY:  Your steps may be uncertain to you, but they are never uncertain to God. He will never remove His cloud and fire from your life.

PRAYER:  Lord, I submit my every step to You. I invite You to direct my path with or without my awareness of it. Give me understanding when I need it, and trust when I don’t understand. Lead me into the land of promise You’ve designed for me.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: CLARITY

EPISODE: 22-204

VERSE: The LORD went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. EXODUS 13:21

✔️ - We long for such concrete guidance.

✔️ - The cloud and fire were clear to all. They knew exactly where to go, day or night.

✔️ - Why was God so clear with them and yet is so seemingly vague with us?

✔️ - He will show us enough to keep us moving forward.

TAKEAWAY:  God will patiently lead us  —on a very circuitous path at times, but with a purpose  —as we come close to Him. He is determined to get us through whatever wilderness we face.

PRAYER:  Lord, You have led me on such a winding path that sometimes I’m not sure I’m headed in the right direction. I long for Your cloud and fire, but I’ll cling to whatever guidance You give. Please get me through this wilderness safely.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: FROM THE HEART OF GOD

EPISODE: 22-203

VERSE: You cried to me in trouble, and I saved you; I answered out of the thundercloud and tested your faith when there was no water at Meribah. PSALM 81:7

✔️ - “The place of Meribah is a place of quarreling; it was given that name because My people quarreled with Me.

✔️ - And in spite of their complaints, I answered their cries.

✔️ - “Did you notice that? I abhor complaining, but I still answer the pleas of the complainers.

✔️ - I will not leave you in the wilderness without any provision.

TAKEAWAY:  Your faithfulness will allow you to experience more of My favor, but the absence of it does not cause Me to leave your needs unmet. Mercy compels Me. When you cry out, I will answer.”

PRAYER:  Lord, I am so unworthy. I have complained against You. I have grumbled about My circumstances and wondered if I’ve forfeited Your favor. But I’m exactly the kind of person Your mercy was meant for. I’m crying out. Let me hear and see Your answers.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: SPIRITUAL SENSITIVITIES

EPISODE: 22-202

VERSE: To another, the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 1 CORINTHIANS 12:8

✔️ - “Do you have pain in your right knee?” one man asked another for no apparent reason.

✔️ - When he prayed, the pain began to subside.

✔️ - The result is a culture of language in which “all talk and no action” is a frequent lament.

✔️ - Understand that when we hear God’s voice, it’s a weighty matter.

TAKEAWAY:  If they are encouragement or correction, we will accept it. Whatever He says, it’s true. It will not return to Him without fulfilling His purpose.

PRAYER:  Lord, if all creation heeds Your voice, so must I. Let the distance between my ears and my actions be short. I respond with yes to whatever You say.
