THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: VULNERABLE POSITION

EPISODE: 22-221

VERSE: Order the Israelites to turn back and camp by Pi-hahiroth between Migdol and the sea. Camp there along the shore. EXODUS 14:1-2

✔️ - The Israelites fleeing from Egypt were following the cloud and the fire of God closely.

✔️ - God led them directly into a seemingly unsolvable predicament.

✔️ - That sounds just like Him, doesn’t it?

✔️ - But we have to be led into impossible situations for a miraculous deliverance to happen.

TAKEAWAY:  The God whose ways are far above ours enjoys being unconventional. He thinks “outside the box” because boxes can’t contain Him. Surprising directions are His specialty.

PRAYER:  Lord, I’m listening for Your voice, and I’m not ruling out anything unless it contradicts Your character. No twist in the journey is beyond Your nature. Lead me into  —and out of  —any predicament You choose.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: DREADFUL SITUATIONS

EPISODE: 22-220

VERSE: I have not departed from [God’s] commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food. JOB 23:12

✔️ - No one can honestly claim to have never departed from God’s commands, but Job wasn’t saying he had never made a mistake.

✔️ - That seemed to be the only explanation for the suffering of an apparently godly man.

✔️ - But Scripture tells us the story behind Job’s trials...

✔️ - He was a model of submission to God’s written Word.

TAKEAWAY:  Even when we’ve been obedient to God’s instructions, we can explore His ways more thoroughly. And when we do, we find treasures we never before imagined.

PRAYER:  Father, let me never waste my pain. Use it to draw me deeper, to show me hidden treasures of Your ways and Your Kingdom. Give me glimpses behind the scenes of my life.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: SITUATIONS

EPISODE: 22-219

VERSE: He knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. JOB 23:10

✔️ - It’s comforting to realize that God knows where we’re going because there are times when we clearly don’t.

✔️ - How does this happen?

✔️ - When we’re listening for God’s voice and following His lead, He gives us enough to go on, and we follow as best we can.

✔️ - And when the test is over, we will come forth as pure as gold.

TAKEAWAY:  Times like these aren’t comfortable, but they are good. They prepare you for the deliverance, the direction, and the fulfillment that God is going to give you.

PRAYER:  Lord, it’s painful not to hear Your voice, to wonder why I’m here and where You’ve gone. You know the path I need to take. I don’t. Until You lead again, my eyes are fixed on You.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: DESPERATE NEED

EPISODE: 22-218

VERSE: Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. MATTHEW 15:23

✔️ - A Gentile woman was pleading with Jesus to deliver her daughter from demonic torment...

✔️ - In the end, her persistence proved her faith.

✔️ - When we ask to hear God’s voice and then don’t, it isn’t because He is reluctant or unmerciful.

✔️ - It’s an invitation to come closer.

TAKEAWAY:  But when we have to keep asking and keep searching, we dive deeper into His depths. And when He eventually speaks, we find that we know Him better than we did before.

PRAYER:  Jesus, my hunger for Your voice is enough to make me persist through Your silences. Please draw me closer in these times. Let me discover the depths of Your nature when I’m searching and waiting for Your response.

✔️ - “Many people cry out to hear My voice, but they aren’t really listeners."

✔️ - "They want to hear, but they don’t want to listen."

✔️ - “Most people don’t realize that while they are crying out to hear My voice, I am calling out for them to listen."

✔️ - "Listen and step out on what you’ve heard."

TAKEAWAY:  "My grace is more than generous for those who follow Me boldly and passionately, even at the risk of being wrong. Don’t just hear with your ears. Listen with your heart.”

PRAYER:  Lord, I know You value discernment, but You value trust even more. You urge me to walk by faith, not by sight. I commit to listen intently; fill me with holy boldness to act on what I hear.

TITLE: NEEDS

EPISODE: 22-216

VERSE: Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. PSALM 139:23

✔️ - In a reasonably good mood, I walked into the meeting room to see several people.

✔️ - So why did I feel discouraged all of a sudden?

✔️ - Apparently, this is sometimes how God speaks to us about the needs of those around us.

✔️ - God was alerting me to a person in need.

TAKEAWAY:  If led to do more than pray, ask cautious, not intrusive, questions. And be available to respond as a vessel of God’s encouragement.

PRAYER:  Lord, if You are to make me an instrument of Your peace, surely You will give me inside information at times when someone is not at peace within. Help me recognize that information and pray or act on it with compassion.

TITLE: PRETENDING

EPISODE: 22-215

VERSE: When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you. 1 CORINTHIANS 14:26

✔️ - The voice of God was being expressed in all sorts of ways in Corinth.

✔️ - And he ascribed to them a unifying purpose: spiritual gifts must strengthen the church.

✔️ - Many people don’t seem to realize that.

✔️ - In forgetting to strengthen the church, they quench the Spirit.

TAKEAWAY:  He will correct you when He needs to, but He will saturate all of His messages with love. His words through others, if they are truly His words, will build you up.

PRAYER:  Lord, forgive me for accepting critical and condemning words as Yours. I know Your voice heals and strengthens me, even when You correct me. Help me to discern who Your messengers are by the love that motivates them.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: REQUESTS

EPISODE: 22-214

VERSE: The Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. ROMANS 8:26-27

✔️ - Sometimes we know exactly what to pray for.

✔️ - Pray for His will  —even when we don’t consciously know what His will is.

✔️ - This is a different dimension of experiencing God’s voice than we normally expect.

✔️ - And we need lots of help doing that.

TAKEAWAY:  However it works, it’s a sacred process. We receive the heart of God and are enabled to pray it back to Him.

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, thank You for pleading on my behalf  —for taking my incoherent longings and lining them up with what You wanted to do all along. Please tell the Father everything that my words are insufficient to express.

TITLE: SAVED BY GRACE

EPISODE: 22-213

VERSE: You are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. ROMANS 8:9

✔️ - “I’m a sinner saved by grace.”

✔️ - That’s who we are.

✔️ - We will never be confident in hearing God’s voice unless we know this.

✔️ - In order to believe He is inspiring us, we have to believe that He, not our sinful nature, is the dominant force in our hearts.

TAKEAWAY:  He only showed us that side of ourselves so we would come into His Kingdom and experience His power and life.

PRAYER:  Spirit of God, I don’t trust myself, but I trust that You are working in me in power, and speaking to me and through me according to Your will. Some of my thoughts may be sinful, but many others are directly from You. Help me to trust the Holy Spirit inside me.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: SYMBOLIC GESTURES

EPISODE: 22-212

VERSE: The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. PSALM 19:1-2

✔️ - Every aspect of the universe tells us something about God.

✔️ - The design of creation points to the Creator.

✔️ - But creation can speak even more specifically than that.

✔️ - These “coincidences” are God’s way of speaking to us through His creation, pouring forth His voice to make His purposes and His love known to us at critical times.

TAKEAWAY:  More and more, we encounter His voice in everything around us. We find that the heavens, the skies, and even our everyday interactions with creation proclaim His glory.

PRAYER:  Lord, the work of Your hands tells the whole world about who You are. It also often tells me what You want to say to me. You are sovereign over every word, name, sight, sound, symbol, song, creature, and message I perceive. Help me become familiar with the language You use in my life.
