  • Power Project Episode #65: The Power of Speaking with Annette Brechbill
In Episode# 65, I sit down with Annette Brechbill, military spouse, mom,
entrepreneur, and global citizen. Annette has a widely varied background in her
career from working in the travel industry as a flight attendant to serving as a
diplomat at the American Embassy in London, where she hosted 23 Secretary of
State visits, the G8 Summit, NATO meetings, and multiple presidential visits. While
she found her passion in the networking and relationship building aspect of those
careers, she realized that she enjoyed connecting people and meeting needs. She
has taken that passion and turned it into a career as a speaker’s agent where she is
able to promote speakers and match the right speakers with the right audience.

Annette shares with us how Arianna Huffington and William McCraven were two of the
most impactful speakers she has had the privilege of knowing and how she has a
desire to bring the right people to the right stages to impact more lives. Her vision for
building a speaker representation consultancy company was to be able to connect the
right people who aligned with the way that she values business and making a positive
impact in the world. Annette first had the idea of building this company while watching
a documentary about Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. She realized that while Dr. Dre was the
artist, Jimmy Iovine was the force behind the artist that connected him with the right
opportunities. I loved that this was her Ah-Ha moment when she knew that much like
Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre, she too wanted to sell speakers, but a different kind all
    together!
“I didn’t want to be Dr. Dre, but I sure as heck wanted to be Jimmy Iovine
Annette shares her 3 tips with us for expanding how speakers can see the value in a
speaking activity rather than just the income, or lack thereof, it generates.
3 WAYS TO REALIZE THE VALUE OF A SPEAKING ACTIVITY:
    1. Look beyond the payment of a speech. Focus on the impact you can make on
    other’s lives with the message
    2. Connect with the audience on an emotional level in order to build community and
    broaden your reach.
    3. Identify how the experience will positively impact and further your mission or goal.

  • Power Project Episode #64: Faith Over Failure with Rachel Fesko
In Episode #64, I sit down with Rachel Fesko, a full time working mom
who currently serves as a content manager at a software company
while simultaneously building her media company. She is passionate
about helping others not make the same mistakes she has along the
business path, and in her free time, she volunteers at her church.
Rachel and I discuss her two main focuses when it comes to business
    and life, and the church.
    1. Failure as an imperative growth tool
    2. The Power of Obligation and how you can live your life free of other people’s
    opinions.
We discuss Rachel’s childhood growing up as a preacher’s kid and the pressure to look
right and act right that came along with that while she also shares with us her
experience in bible college, leaving a church, and going through a church split. She
took it to church in this episode sharing how people in the church tend to feel like they
have to have it all together and are never really allowed to just be themselves but that’s
not really who Jesus was. He was the leader that stooped down and stopped men
from stoning adulterous women. She talked about how she feels as if God is sparking
a revival and is not on the mission of a cruise ship but rather a rescue boat.
Rachel went on to discuss her failures in business and what she learned from them.
She gave us her Three Steps to Moving on in Business after failure:
3 Steps for Overcoming Failure in Business:
    1. OWN IT: You have to own that you failed and pull yourself up from the boot straps.
Then you have to realize that failure is truly your most important growth tool.
    • Meditate/Pray/Take a walk: think about why you failed
    2. DECIDE WHAT THE NEXT STEP IS:
    • Relaunch
    • Different Industry
    1
    • Research Customers: Who are they, what do they want?
    3. Launch your Product/Service in spite of previous failure
    • Do it scared. “Listen through the fear”. You will never know what all the steps
are but you to take the first one.

  • Power Project Episode #63: Finding Purpose and Overcoming Obstacles with Madison Anaya
This week, I sit down with Madison Anaya as we discuss finding our
purpose, overcoming obstacles, and getting comfortable allowing
ourselves to become who we were meant to be. Madison shares how
she struggled with who she “should” be versus who God was calling
    her to be.
Madison discusses how she has sought out community through social media and built
a platform for impact. She tells us how it doesn’t matter whether you’re an introvert or
extrovert, we were all built for community and learning from one another.
Madison had so many great quotes in this episode.
“I wanted to go on this quest of fearlessly chasing my dreams and not letting fear hold
me back to be able to give these tools to other people who may be in the same space
    of feeling stuck.”
“Whether you want to be an intern or a CEO, you have to allow yourself the grace to be
    a beginner.”
“I knew that God had placed these giant dreams on my heart of what my life could look
like if I started stepping out in faith instead of letting other things hold me back.”
“If your mission is to prove yourself to people, then of course you’re going to have
    imposter syndrome.”
Madison shares her 5 tips that she has found to help find purpose every day,
The 5 Areas to finding Purpose Every Day: How can I truly step into who I was
made to be right now and not just when the waters are calm? How can I show up and
be present and appreciate where I’m at right now?
    1. IDENTITY: Knowing who I was and who I was going to root myself in when the
    storms came.
    2. KNOWING YOUR WHY: Why are you giving up your time, money, energy, time
    away from family?

    1

    3. BEING STRATEGIC WITH MAKING A GAME PLAN : If you aim at nothing, you will
hit it every time. If you can create a game plan for the next 5 steps, you can give
yourself grace needed to be okay with the step you are on in your journey. This will
provide the confidence of knowing that you made it to the step you are on and can
make it to the next step.
    4. BE WILLING TO TAKE A RISK: You have to quit letting fear hold you back and step
    out in faith.
    5. COMMUNITY: While you are chasing dreams and taking risks, the community
element will let you know that there are other people out there that believe in you,
will hold you accountable, and will remind you who you are and why you are doing
    this.

  • Power Project Episode #62: Embracing Femininity with Cassandra Wilder
This week, we hear from Cassandra Wilder, Naturopathic doctor, herbalist, yoga teacher, and
menstruation expert with a passion for women’s health and healing.
As a leading expert in menstrual cycles, Cassandra has found that often times women that
have sever periods, health problems, and thyroid imbalances typically have a disconnect from
their cycles as well as who they are in life.
Cassandra has found that helping women track their entire monthly cycle can be an incredibly
empowering experience and allows her to also teach women the tools to live an empowered
life in a safe space. She also shares with us how connecting with our cycles can help to
connect us to who we are in times of our peak energy and mothers of daughters can teach
them to take this time of the month to harness energy, slow down, and allow time for self care.
Cassandra shares with us how growing up in rural Utah led to her being disconnected from her
body and experiencing great sadness which eventually led to a toxic relationship and being
sexually assaulted. She realized that she had to take steps to change and not blame others for
her circumstances and thus set out on a purpose journey that led her to Guatemala where she
observed her first women circles in which a group of ladies created a safe space for women to
    gather talk, and meditate.
We invite you in today into our Women’s Circle to discuss any topic you wish.

  • Power Project Episode #61: How to Take Action after a Conference
HOW TO TAKE ACTION & Apply knowledge after a conference:

I love conferences but the biggest mistake I see people make is that they don’t take action after a convention or conference. I see people that are so caught up int he experience that they forget to utilize the conference as the tool it is.

At the conference, you should have networked with intention. You hopefully exchanged business cards, phone numbers, and added each other on social media. Keep the conversation going. Stay connected with the community you have been immersed in.
Whether you are attending a women’s conference, personal development conference, or business conference. These are your people. They are likeminded individuals with similar interests and goals in life.
Find the ones that live in close proximity and schedule a follow up. Chances are, these people will help keep you motivated and focused.
Follow the hashtag that was used for that conference in order to make sure you are connecting with others that you may have missed at the conference.

    1. Go over notes: Review your information.
    1. What stuck out to you, what lit a fire, what did you highlight? What was the biggest takeaway you had from the conference? Was there an “Aha moment?”
    2. Organize these thoughts in one document. This is where I take my handwritten highlighted notes and transfer them into a document on my computer in order to have them easily accessible for future trainings or referencing.

    2. Follow the speakers: these are your mentors whether you know it or not. Continue this education.
    1. If they have a podcast, subscribe immediately. (rate & review the podcast as well)
    2. Follow them on social media. Chances are, they’re just as motivating online as they are on stage.
    3. Buy the books.

    3. What is the number one thing that you realized you weren’t doing but should be? Why is this relevant? How will it greatly improve your life.
    1. Did you realize your mental block that is getting in the way of your success? You need to work on mindset. Do the deep dive here. Lean into every area you need to in order to develop the mindset it takes to achieve your goals: Surround yourself with those that will encourage this, read all the books, listen to all the podcasts, create your morning routine, focus on developing the growth mindset. Whatever it takes.
    2. Did you realize that you need to focus on time management? Get intentional about your schedule. Time block and organize your days.

    4. Decide what pro-active step will deliver the most positive results. Monetary
    1. If you are at a company convention: Do you have a new product? That product needs to be brought to your market to generate sales. This is more important than learning an entirely new marketing technique. Get the information out about that product/program/etc.., whether you know the ingredients or all of the details, build value in the product itself. Educate your community as to why they need that product and how it will benefit them. Do not get stuck in analysis paralysis here. Remember, if you don’t know the ingredients or particular details, you can always look that answer up.

    2. You most likely had ideas at a women’s conference or personal development conference. Did you dream of hosting a ladies bible study. Did you think of a women’s retreat? Did you have the idea for a team training? Put that plan on paper & action. Begin talking to your community about this idea. Poll your audience. Ask for suggestions, recommendations, the best time to have the event. Build excitement around this idea.
    3. Realized that you need to add an offer to your current business? Create the action plan for what that looks like.

    5. Now, I want to speak to those that attend Business Conferences primarily. Often times it is 100% like drinking from a firehose. All the information is given, you write furiously, and you’re so excited for the future. You go home with all your new ideas and think: Okay, I have to build an email list, create a landing page, create a giveaway for the landing page, use Canva for the giveaway, download canva, learn how to use canva and how to resize pics. Oh wait, I have to learn how to take good quality pics with great lighting for Instagram and post over there at least once a day. Speaking of that, I need to update my bio with my new link tree information. Oh, and I need to start writing articles on LinkdIn. But, I need to have a podcast first, so that I have information to share over there. Which reminds me that I don’t even know how to record a podcast and I need to order one of those mics which plugs into my phone. Also, I need to learn YouTube so that I can start creating some coaching videos to build out my following and create a course.

*Get the picture? Sound familiar? I have been there. In all honesty, it’s something I fight on a daily basis. All of this is important to business. All of these are crucial marketing platforms. However, as a mighty team of 1 and a part time assistant, I can personally tell you that you can not do all the things at once. You have to break it up into a plan and this goes back to what will deliver the most desired results the quickest.

    * Work on one goal at a time. Break it into 12 weeks.
WEEK ONE: You should know your brand at this point. If you don’t, now is the time to lean into it. Decide what 5 topics represent you and your brand. What do you want to be known for? This is not a logo and a color scheme. Refer to podcast episode #49: Branding with Brandi where I talk about what a brand is not: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-power-project-podcast/id1438323339?i=1000447516208 I have included a Branding Bootcamp Guide as well on the blog or you can get it directly from the show notes,—-> https://mailchi.mp/6e709ebaba74/brandingbootcamp

WEEK TWO: This is the easiest and will get people invested in your mission: Push content out on social media. Schedule social media posts for the next 30 days. Planoly is a great scheduling app for IG.
WEEK THREE: Build a website (if necessary) I use Weebly and the templates make it very user friendly, plus I appreciate the built in options & upgrades. E-commerce and automated email marketing are both user friendly.
WEEK FOUR: An email list is crucial. But, it takes time and is going to take time to build out. Spend a solid week creating email content for the actual audience you currently have. You should have an introduction email that is sent as soon as someone subscribes to your list. This should be the email version of a conversation you would have a ta cocktail party. Who you are, what you do, what you enjoy, and why they want to hang out with you. If you don’t have a podcast, blog, or youtube channel to direct them to, find ways to educate, entertain, or offer value. Let them know what you are working on and your future ideas so that they have a reason to come back and read your emails. Give them your takeaways from the conference you just attended. Share with them your favorite cold weather recipe. This is about nurturing your audience. Once again, this is not sponsored, but I use Weebly for my automated email. There are plenty of Youtube videos and podcasts about this. Listen to anything Jenna Kutcher or Amy Porterfield put out about this.
WEEK FIVE: Create a giveaway for a Landing Page :Mail Chimp or FloDesk will work for automated emails if your website host does not have an automated email/landing page option. I use Canva to create my PDF giveaways. This should be something that adds value to someone’s life for free and in exchange they subscribe to your email list. It should clearly convey the value you can add to their lives but in a concise manner. This can be tips over: cooking, parenting, workout, travel, business, whatever is true to your personal brand. For instance, Check out a post on the blog where I gave away a guide to Flying with Kids: or reference the show notes——>> https://mailchi.mp/67863a4d8fd3/huxjprbopo

WEEK SIX-TWELVE: Podcast or YouTube Channel: Create your platform. Do the research it takes to learn about broadcasting on that platform & don’t get overwhelmed. Done is better than perfect. Once again, you can learn all this for free online. To hear what I first did when starting a podcast, check out episode # 44 What to Know When Starting a Podcast. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-power-project-podcast/id1438323339?i=1000444761807

I”’m not here to impress you. I want someone to catch the vision and do this. If you catch the

    Teisha Simmons
    Adapting Your Mindset

This week, I had the honor of sitting down with Teisha Simmons, Mother, Entrepreneur, Small Business Owner, Wife, and Daughter.

After hearing Teisha speak as a leader at my skincare company’s conference, I knew that my audience needed to hear her story!

Teisha’s story is one of true git and overcoming adversity. She shares her story being paralzyed at the age of 15, overcoming the anxiety, depression, and insomnia that followed, learning more about her faith through the trials.

She shares with us how she completed her Master’s in Psychology and was required to write a 96 page thesis by using a head mouse and typing 6 words per minute. Teisha tells us that in order to accomplish this goal, she had to say no to other things and that any good goal is worth pushing through for.

I asked for her opinion of how to treat someone going through such a trial and she shared that people will give us signs when they are ready but until then, we need to just be there for them and sit with them. At the end of the day, just want their hurt acknowledged.

Teisha encourages us to build ourselves up now because at some point, life will knock the breath out of us and reminds us that if she can do what she has done without using 90% of her body, we can all do anything we set our mind to.
