I met Jess once a couple of years ago and we had not hung out since, but had kept in touch lightly on the internet. Observing her tunes and general attitude, I grew to be more curious about her work and philosophies, so I invited her on! In this week's podcast I deconstruct the closing track on my latest record Good Weird - Headbang. This is actually a super old song that had already been released, but is no longer listenable online. I go through the older version of the tune and talk about what elements I carried over to the new, released version, and why. Carly is a dear friend of mine from years ago. While we did meet in around 2013, we weren't actively friends until 2015. We have sung together many times and she has frequently sung backup for BP. She is also the funniest woman I know, most likely. We talk about how we have disguised our personal intentions through cosmic songwriting, our histories, and we even perform a few little ditties.

kate.'s guitarist reached out to me last year to play a show with them, which I found to be a little odd because they seemed to be so pop. What would they want to do with weird old me?! As I started to meet and talk with everyone involved with project, I realized that we have similar attitudes to making music - saying what you need to say, being alternative about your approach, and ignoring the system. I've always been hella intrigued that they've been helming that way of making music in such a rules-oriented genre, and so I've been waiting for the day to have this convo for a while! A few weeks back I polled my e-mail list to get questions to be answered on this podcast...I answered 'em. Some of the topics included involve: Musical guilty pleasures, my first show, my 'math' brain, and Ryan Adams.

I met the Pep boys offhandedly in a teensy basement a few weekends ago whilst catching another set from one of my fave local bands Madame Butterfly. I had seen part of a Peppermint Boys set before, but didn't get the chance to be properly blown away. Once I caught up to their recordings, I was floored, intrigued, flabbergasted! So hastily, I asked to hang with them and have a long conversation with them, which I thankfully recorded. Very thoughtful young boys. Enjoy! Aaron has been referenced on pretty much every podcast up to this one, and for good reason. He has been around since the formal inception of BP and has helped produce almost all of the works and has performed in every iteration of the band thus far. He has participated in every tour as well, and is currently co-producing the next record which is in the works. We talk about beer, cooking, musical philosophy, and spicy candy.

I met Neonstorm whilst touring through Pittsburgh in 2018 - BP opened up for a band that Chris (aka Neonstorm) was in called The Alfomega. This led me to listening to Chris' solo record and I was blown away by how good it was - so I figured i'd get him on the podcast to dig in further. We talk about the music of nature, lost media, and how social media brought us together.
