The Promised Land | A Manchester United Podcast

Scott Saunders returns to give flowers to Casemiro - a hugely criticised and at one point "finished" expensive flop to go down with the rest of Manchester United's recent transfer market mistakes. The Brazilian - after being told by Jamie Carragher to "leave the football before the football leaves you" has now thrust his way back into the United team and is becoming undroppable.

Scott discusses why Casemiro is having perhaps one last hurrah, what he's done to win his place back and why the midfield works with him in it. Also discussed is the upcoming end of his contract in 2026 - and whether he leaves as expected or if there's a way to extend the deal into next season...and what would need to be the conditions for that to happen.

Scott returns after the Premier League weekend and off the back of three Manchester United wins in a row to discuss the feeling around the club after the recent turnaround and to reflect on what's actually possible for United to achieve in the Premier League this season...

Considering some were fearful United could get relegated under Ruben Amorim last season and now they're within touching distance of the Champions League, Scott looks at all the surrounding factors in the hunt for the top four/five and if it's possible for United to raise their targets.. or if the initial season targets are still the right ones.

Given the struggles of Liverpool and Chelsea and United's ability to prepare for matches without Europe, is the Champions League possible?

Scott Saunders reacts to Manchester United's 4-2 win over Brighton at Old Trafford which sees the Reds move into the Premier League top four - albeit temporarily!

Scott breaks down the game, what worked well for United, how Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have made United a different proposition, and why Brighton pulling the game back to 3-2 to cause some panic might actually be a GOOD thing for United.

Scott Saunders looks back on Manchester United's win at Anfield and ponders how much that victory could mean to the club itself and especially to the team's senior players - Fernandes, Maguire, Shaw, etc, and an inferiority complex which has arguably held United back down the years.

The mental side of the game is so massive and is one of the main issues which Ruben Amorim needs to fix, so how far could this take them?

Also, there's a reminder to manage expectations with Brighton on the horizon next and a look into the mindset of Ruben Amorim, who had a message to send in his post match reaction.

Scott Saunders takes the opportunity during the international break to reflect on Man Utd's transfer market policy on the incomings front - and asks the question of if the club is getting better at recruitment following two summers of signings under a new transfer team.

Scott looks at the signings of the summer in 2025 and how they've adapted, and looks at how the arrivals in 2024 are faring today. Is there reason for encouragement or are United still picking out duds?
