Near Orange County in California you’ll find a hungry up and coming singer / songwriter named Justis Chanell who is looking to make her mark and a real legitimate impact with each piece of music she puts out! Right out of our neck of the woods we bring you our first in person interview this week with Timmy The Boy and Josh Beacom! The two close friends and collaborators come from similar backgrounds in theatre but also share some different outlooks and experiences with music which they touched upon for us. Timmy has slowly made the transition from Rap to Rock and describes where that decision came into play while Josh is continuing to perfect his playing ability while helping Timmy put together the upcoming tracks he’ll be showing the world very soon. It’s great to hear from some young guys doing great things not only in the music space but for the community as they’ll be performing a live show this week at the Alliance YWCA for the local supporters! With an undeniable west coast spirit and energy surrounding his style the Inglewood producer known as Jay B brought a sample of what he has to offer the music world to our show this week! With family ties to his cousin Hit-Boy and his father Rodney Benford of the R&B group Troop Jay decided to take music seriously following the passing of a close friend whom he shared a mutual interest for the craft. He describes the process it’s taken him to land tracks with artists like Audio Push, Benny The Butcher and Quentin Miller over the last three years. Balancing family life with a job and pursuing a music career on top of it all Jay is seeking to find peace and be able to provide for himself and his loved ones with what he’s passionate about. With great persistence and an uncanny ear for very melodic and hard hitting tracks you’ll be seeing and hearing more of Jay B’s works as he continues to expand his network and reach the level he’s aiming for!

Still only a few paces into her career, Houston artist Shelby Ruger is quickly picking up steam and putting in double time to advance her end goals in music. This week we chatted with her about the last few years that has seen her attend college for music, begin to release some solo content, and pick up sound engineering as she aims to have more control over the sound she’s crafting out each trip to the studio. Shelby says of her upcoming releases that they will lead with a sense of confidence and encourage listeners to put themselves first and practice self care. As someone who has taken control of their life trajectory Shelby will only continue to grow and evolve as an artist and for someone who’s still fairly new to things there’s no doubt that the best is yet to come!

Oli-J has been hard at work for quite some time to get to where he’s heading. He made some time this week down in Nashville to join the show and give us a quick look into what he has up his sleeve moving forward! After a solo EP in 2019 he has since been in the process of shifting genres from R&B and Pop to House music and he relays to us some of the people who have helped him find this new sound and grow as an artist. He’s also working to put together a much better live music experience for fans that will help reflect the kind of music he’ll be putting out in the coming months. The largest takeaway this week was Oli’s ability to take risks and see a big payoff after moving from Tennessee to California in order to advance his career. The different kinds of emotions he’s experienced in the last year alone have all added fuel to the creative fire and are helping him channel a new love and passion for music. Today Kyle is looking to move his career to the next level and he joins us to discuss his potential move to either L.A. or Atlanta within the next year to help advance the movement and hopefully make some more great connections. Stay ready for Kyle to drop a lot of dope music as well very soon as he used the past year to try out different styles and cadences in his voice as well as taking more time to live life and relay those stories into each of his songs.
