Psychologists have developed a new term for those who harness extreme political causes to feed narcissism and psychopathy: the “Dark Ego Vehicle Principle.” A new study in the peer-reviewed journal Current Psychology shows that those who support authoritarianism report higher levels of psychopathic traits. What might motivate a person to blow up a pipeline, endangering entire communities? Perhaps it has more to do with a perceived display of moral superiority, social status, the desire to dominate others, or aggression that satisfies thrill seeking than the actual “cause.” Those from privileged backgrounds are especially concerning as they can use their means to hijack movements, making the activism solely about themselves instead of social justice. - - - - - As the undisputed leader in renewable energy investment - with 66 billion invested - Texas is now seriously rethinking its approach to powering the state.
