Over the past few weeks, jihadis in Gaza launched kites that crossed the border and landed in or near Israeli communities. For years, similar kites were used as arson weapons, burning Israeli fields and nature reserves.This time, Defense Minister Israel Katz issued the policy Israel should have had years ago: “We view every launch as an act of war in every sense.” He instructed the IDF to respond immediately and forcefully to any kite, balloon, or drone from Gaza, with or without explosives. “A balloon is treated like a kite, and a kite is treated like a drone.” Most important: “We will not allow a return to the reality of before October 7.”That is the shift. A primitive weapon is still a weapon. A cheap kite is still an attack if it is launched from enemy territory toward Israeli civilians. For years Israel absorbed “small” terrorism: incendiary kites in 2018, Hamas-organized border riots labeled as protests, and legal distinctions that left soldiers hesitant while Hamas tested the fence. On August 21, 2021, Border Police officer Barel Hadaria Shmueli, HY”D, was shot through a firing slit at point-blank range during one of those riots.October 7 showed where that doctrine ends. Hamas studied Israel’s restraint. It learned that rockets were treated as war, while kites, balloons, and fence riots were treated as disturbances. Then came the massacre.These latest kites may not have carried explosives. That does not make them innocent. Jihadi groups probe first, normalize the abnormal, then escalate. Katz’s standard is how deterrence is restored: immediate consequences, not delayed investigations and international mediation.Israel’s duty is to protect Jewish life, not preserve Hamas’s ability to test the border. The emotions are impossible to describe.Yet this birth represents something even greater than an extraordinary personal family celebration: our granddaughter is the fourth generation of the Abelow family blessed to live in our God-given, indigenous, ancestral homeland.For thousands of years, generations of Jews lived in exile, wandering from country to country, enduring persecution and Jew-hating antisemitism while never abandoning the dream of returning home to Jerusalem and the Land of Israel.I was blessed to be born and raised in the United States, arguably the greatest home the Jewish people ever experienced in exile, and I will forever be grateful for that. But I was even more blessed to make aliyah and come home to Israel, brought here by my parents, who have now become great-grandparents!Today, our children are building their own Jewish families here. Our granddaughter will grow up in the land where her ancestors dreamed of living. Did you hear the latest manufactured scandal? MK Tzvi Sukkot destroyed a Palestinian Authority monument that glorifies the terrorist Yaman Faraj, a jihadi terrorist responsible for multiple attacks that have killed and injured dozens of Jews. Of course MK Sukkot did the right thing. The outrage that followed only exposes the complete moral inversion we are living in, and the urgent need for stronger leadership.Journalist Elhanan Gruner reported the monument to the IDF back in early July after ice cream was handed out to village children in Faraj’s memory at the monument. The Judea and Samaria Division commander promised to handle it. Days later the IDF claimed they couldn’t find it, while soldiers on the ground had already located the monument and were begging for permission to destroy it.Prime Minister Netanyahu then criticized Sukkot for “taking the law into his own hands.” That response is exactly the problem. He should have said to the world: 'You are upset about a monument celebrating a terrorist? Be upset about the daily terror and the PA’s pay-for-slay system funded by international money. Of course we will destroy these monuments. This is not a bureaucratic 'taking the law into ones own hands' issue, it is about removing evil.'Remember the hypocrisy. Progressive activists across America toppled, defaced, and destroyed hundreds of historic monuments and statues with barely any lasting internal or international outrage. Yet when a Jewish MK removes a monument that celebrates the murder of Jews, the world and even parts of Israel’s leadership erupt in condemnation. That double standard is not accidental. It is the moral inversion at the heart of this conflict.Israel must implement the Rudy Giuliani methodology of rule. Terror monuments are the broken windows of this war. Leaving them standing signals weakness. Destroying them signals that the rules have changed. MK Sukkot did not incite terror, leaving the monument intact and criticizing his actions do.Three years after October 7, these symbols still stand while our enemies laugh at our hesitation. The younger generation that fought this war already understands the difference between legalistic caution and moral clarity. The question is whether our leadership will catch up.Destroy the monuments. Speak the only language the enemy understands. Israel just held important Likud primary elections, yet hardly anyone outside Israel, and even many people inside Israel, heard about them.These internal elections matter because Likud members help shape the party's future list of Knesset representatives. For me, this was much more than a political moment. It was another expression of Jewish history and our family’s active participation in the Geulah, the redemption process unfolding before our eyes.Years ago, after witnessing the disastrous Oslo “peace” process, I realized that protesting from the sidelines was not enough. Inspired by Moshe Feiglin and his Manhigut Yehudit movement, tens of thousands of idealistic Israelis entered politics to influence the Likud and the State of Israel from within.Did we achieve everything we wanted? Absolutely not. Politics involves power struggles, international pressure, compromise and plenty of disappointment. Netanyahu and the Likud are not perfect. But without religious, Zionist and values-driven Israelis getting involved, Israel’s political direction would be far worse today.Faith in Hashem is essential, but faith does not mean passivity.We must trust Hashem while accepting responsibility for the tools He places in our hands. Jared Kushner, representing the United States government, recently met in Egypt with Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’s overall leader, a former deputy to Yahya Sinwar who was connected to preparations for the October 7 massacre.Al-Hayya did not condemn October 7. He praised it as a “military accomplishment” and “source of pride” to be passed down through generations. This is the Hamas leader Kushner reportedly said had spoken “all the right things.”To Kushner’s credit, he demanded that Hamas surrender its weapons, relinquish control of Gaza and dismantle its terrorist infrastructure. Yet Hamas’s public statement did not explicitly promise disarmament. Instead, Hamas demanded that Israel stop fighting, withdraw from Gaza and permit reconstruction.Pressure Israel first. Trust Hamas later.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected that dangerous sequence. He insisted that Hamas surrender every weapon, dismantle its tunnels and completely demilitarize Gaza before any Israeli withdrawal or reconstruction.Israel tried withdrawal and promises in 2005. We destroyed 21 thriving Jewish communities and expelled nearly 10,000 Jews from Gaza. Instead of peace, Gaza became an Iranian-, Qatari- and Turkish-backed terrorist state that eventually launched October 7.Washington must also confront the influence of Qatar and Turkey, regimes closely associated with Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. A 1991 internal Muslim Brotherhood memorandum, later introduced as evidence in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism-financing trial, described a “civilization-jihadist process” aimed at undermining Western civilization from within.This is not only Israel’s battle. Sunni and Shia Jihadis chant “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” because Israel stands on the front line of the same civilizational struggle.President Trump should not pressure Netanyahu to trust Hamas. America should support Israel in defeating Hamas, retaining the security control necessary to protect Jewish lives and ensuring that October 7 can never happen again.Strengthen your faith. I’m back in IDF reserve duty, helping protect the Jews who live in the Judean Hills while Israel’s war against jihad continues.One of our newest assignments is particularly meaningful: protecting a brand-new Jewish community taking root on an undeveloped hilltop. Just weeks ago, caravans arrived and the first families moved in. Today, it is a dirt road, temporary homes and open hills. Synagogues and schools will be built. Families will celebrate weddings and britot. One day, residents will look at photographs of these first caravans and say, “That was the beginning.”This new community is part of an unprecedented wave of Jewish development throughout Judea and Samaria advanced by the current Israeli government, with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich playing a central role. More Jewish communities mean greater Jewish continuity, stronger security and hundreds of thousands more Jews eventually living throughout Israel’s biblical heartland.Standing here also exposes the lie that Jewish “settlements” are created by throwing Arabs out of their homes. Look around: open land, barren hills, a newly prepared road and brand-new caravans. Jewish families are not taking over an existing village. They are building something new.Judea and Samaria overlook Israel’s narrow coastal plain and population centers. After October 7, allowing another jihadist terror state to rise on these strategic heights would be suicidal. Strengthening Jewish communities here protects all of Israel.Our ancestors prayed for 2,000 years to return. As fighting with Hezbollah returned days ago, something extraordinary is happening in Lebanon that deserves far more attention.For decades, Israel fought the same disastrous cycle: defeat our enemies militarily, face international pressure to withdraw, trust international guarantees, watch the terrorists rebuild, and eventually fight another war.Today, that paradigm is beginning to change.Hezbollah continues to demonstrate why Israel can never withdraw from southern Lebanon while the terrorist organization remains armed. Yet the critical development is diplomatic: the United States is increasingly placing responsibility on Hezbollah to disarm rather than demanding that Israel withdraw first.That is a HUGE shift.Israel learned the hard way what happens when we surrender strategic territory based on international promises. We withdrew from southern Lebanon in 2000, while Hezbollah built an enormous terrorist army under UNIFIL's watch. We withdrew from Gaza in 2005, uprooting nearly 10,000 Jews and destroying 21 Jewish communities. Hamas responded with rockets, terror tunnels and ultimately the October 7 massacre.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has helped change the diplomatic equation: Hezbollah must be dismantled and southern Lebanon demilitarized before Israel can be expected to withdraw.Is this the decisive victory Israel ultimately needs? No. Hezbollah remains dangerous, Iran continues orchestrating terror across the Middle East, and Israel must ensure that its northern communities can never again face this threat by remaining in our Jewish tribal lands of Dan & Naftali in Southern Lebanon forever. The latest “settler violence” story from Qusra is another dangerous example of how the Palestinian Authority’s misinformation machine is manipulating American officials, international media and even genuine friends of Israel.The incident did not occur deep inside a peaceful Arab village. It unfolded on Jabal Ein Aneva, strategic high ground between Migdalim and the Shilo bloc that the Palestinian Authority has reportedly been working to seize through illegal construction and the creation of facts on the ground.Qusra also has a documented history of terrorism and violent attacks against Jews. Yet that critical context disappeared as Jewish shepherds and families at Tel Talfiot were immediately portrayed as violent extremists and “terrorists.”Even U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee initially repeated this framing before walking back his remarks. Huckabee is a true friend of Israel, but that makes the contaminated information reaching the Trump administration even more alarming.Who benefits from this misinformation?The Palestinian Authority benefits by turning its strategic land grab into a story about Jewish aggression. Qatar also benefits by driving a wedge between Israel and its strongest American supporters, particularly Christians and conservatives. Qatar, a leader of the global Muslim Brotherhood, has hosted Hamas leaders, supported Muslim Brotherhood networks and invested heavily in influence throughout Washington.The same propaganda pattern appeared in the false Taybeh church story: accuse Jews first, generate international condemnation and allow the facts to arrive only after the damage has been done.Criminal violence should always be investigated, regardless of who commits it. But automatically blaming Jews while ignoring ongoing, daily, jihadi Muslim terrorism, illegal PA construction and the strategic battle for Area C is not justice. It is moral inversion.The “settler violence” blood libel does not endanger only hilltop youth.
