Foreign ministers of the United States, India, Japan and Australia met in Tokyo on Tuesday. The nations form a grouping called the 'Quad'. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne and their Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi took part in the meeting.

The summit is seen as an important event as these countries have major problems with China - India and Japan both have border issues with China, Australia and China are on the brink of a trade war, and the US-China ties are at an all-time low.
