Today's guest is a super cool guy- his name is Leighton, he's from Riverside, and he's a bullrider. Leighton and I met during the Reno Rodeo 3 or 4 years ago when he modeled for a shoot that I was photographing. I was so excited to learn that he's deeply invested in the education and safety of young bullriders, and I had so much fun chatting with him about how he got started, where he's going, his faith, and his branding in realty.

He is not only a rancher, but a pharmacist, and is able to combine those 2 things to speak to people working in ranching and agriculture about mental health as both a peer and someone who believes in responsible medicine consumption. One of the hands down coolest parts of hosting a podcast is asking your friends to come and talk about their business with you- and that's what I got to do this week.  My friend, Angelica, came on to chat about her apparel business, Local Lands Co.  Local Lands Co celebrates local pride- wherever you may be from. What that means is to be proud of your town, and to show tourists and visitors the way to celebrate in your space- whether that's sharing the kid-friendly hiking trails, giving directions, or supporting local businesses. She (and I) are from little mountain towns in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains in North Eastern California, and grew up hiking, swimming, and taking in some of the most beautiful views the state has to offer, and she thinks that should be celebrated. We chat about how the business started, about her family life, and where she sees Local Lands Co going.

Amy has a very interesting journey about spending time outside- and makes the time for it at least 20 minutes a day. We got to chat about her journey with Humans Outside as well as a little bit about her husband's journey to Remedy Alpine, an organization that connects veterans with each other and with nature.

The audio in this chat is a little wonky- I think when Anchor was processing it, it overlaid my voice with hers a little. You can still understand Amy 100%- but my questions are delayed, and it sounds like we are talking over each other a little- but I think that what she's sharing is important, relatable, and funny- so hopefully you all can hear past it like I can because she's incredible!

Sondra Cosgrove is the president of the League of Women Voters in Nevada. We got to chat about same day voter registration in Nevada, as well as the questions that voters can expect to see on the ballot next month. She even broke it down for me question by question and explained what each question meant. She also explained the process of mail in voting in Nevada- and what to do if you're voting in person!

All of that information was incredible, easy to digest, and educational- BUT I think the best part of the conversation was talking about how it's been SO much easier to access people to educate and chat with thanks to technology.

I sat on a zoom call with Moriah Powers, the president of my local League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan nationwide political organization. We chat quite a bit about voting information local to Austin- BUT we also chat about the importance of voting, as well as the information you need in the state of Texas to vote.
