What happens when fear starts making your decisions for you?
In this episode of the Raw Christian Men’s Podcast, we begin a recurring Bible Stories series by looking at six powerful stories from Scripture that show how fear can affect our faith, obedience, leadership, and perspective.
The Twelve Spies — Numbers 13–14Gideon’s Calling — Judges 6Elijah Running From Jezebel — 1 Kings 19Jesus Calming the Storm — Mark 4Peter Walking on Water — Matthew 14Ananias Being Sent to Saul — Acts 9These stories come from different books and different periods of the Bible, but they all reveal the same truth:
Biblical courage does not mean pretending there is nothing to fear. It means refusing to let fear become your master.
The giants were real. The Midianites were dangerous. Jezebel really did threaten Elijah’s life. The storm was real. Peter really was surrounded by wind and waves. And Ananias really was being sent to meet a man known for persecuting Christians.
So why did some people move forward in faith while others allowed fear to control them?
Throughout the episode, we break down:
What actually happened in each Bible storyImportant details Christians often missWhat each story reveals about GodHow fear can distort our view of circumstancesThe difference between feeling fear and being controlled by fearHow fear spreads to the people around usWhy obedience sometimes means moving forward while we are still afraidHow to keep our focus on God when circumstances feel overwhelmingThis conversation challenges us to ask a difficult question:
What decisions is my fear making for me right now?
What conversation are you avoiding?
What step of obedience are you delaying?
What responsibility are you running from?
Where have you decided something cannot happen because all you can see are the giants?
But fear doesn’t have to be in charge.
