She is now involved in many art forms and has had several residencies, including currently being Creative-in-Residence at Affleck’s Palace in Manchester for the past seven years. She's had multiple documentaries about her story, travelled overseas to perform battle rap, and created comedy with her best friend, the suitably face-tattooed Skully, another veteran of the battle rap scene. Ab Parcell is a Butch neurodivergent poet and academic from South Wales. Nowadays she resides in Manchester and is due to complete a PhD in Hybrid Autofiction at The University of Salford. She is the Writer in residency at the Portico Library in Manchester and is working to “challenge” the collection through the queering of the collection. She is just about to release her debut collection, 'Hold Your Metaphors Accountable.'

Her work explores themes of identity, place, trauma and testimony. Her experimental practice of “hybrid autofiction” shines through in her raw debut.

Cathy Crabb is an award-winning playwright and poet who has written extensively for the stage. Her plays include Beautiful House, Moving Pictures, Something Right, Beyond the 4th Wall and The Bubbler, and her collaboration with Punam Ramchurn, Rumba Bar, premiered in 2018. She has also co-written two musicals with Lindsay Williams and Carol Donaldson, Dreamers and Meat Pie, Sausage Roll. Cathy's poetry features on sculptures by Emma Hunter at the former site of Elk Mill in Chadderton, the last mill to be built in Lancashire.

In our episode we discuss growing up in a pub, the demonisation young people in the early 2000s, the act of editing, and how Cathy writes a play in a day.

Will sat down with filmmaker and journalist Naz Kawakami after watching his film ‘Every Day In Kaimuki’ at Manchester Film Festival.

In the interview, they chat skate culture, punk and indie music, Hot Fuzz, Taika Waititi and how Naz helped make his Sundance premiering film for just $700. It’s an inspiring chat!

 Antony Szmierek  is a songwriter, poet and writer. In 2022, his song 'Hitchhiker's Guide To The Fallacy' received airplay from Lauren Laverne, Craig Charles and more, starting the path that lead to his latest EP, 'Poems To Dance To.' Ant is a longtime friend of the podcast, having headlined Will's open mic night, Switchblade Society, back in 2020, and joins us to discuss his new-found fame, re-drafting and the difference between writing for the page and the stage. He welcomed us into his home for the chat, and we overran - so we've got something of a bumper episode for you this week!
