  • Dancing on Dysfunction with Krystyn Mitchell

On todays bonus episode, I am chatting with my childhood friend Kyrstyn Mitchell about our dysfunctional upbringing, co-dependency and trauma.

Krystyn has a masters in educational counselling and is passionate about helping people understand where they came from, so that they can better understand where they are going. She is a true believer in the underdog and never giving up!

In this episode, we touch on our mutual experiences with dysfunctional upbringings and how we had to pave our own paths to break away from that. It is so important to find likeminded people and build a support system where you feel safe discussing your trauma, in order to work through it.

  • Pulling Down Pride

On todays episode, we are talking about pride. I am sharing an excerpt from chapter 3 of my book "The Reconstructed Woman: Blueprints for a Beautiful Life" and in this chapter I discuss the spiritual rewards that you can experience as a result of pulling down your pride.

If we can get past our pride and admit our wrong doings or bad behaviors, God will meet us right there and we will be free.

I share my own experience with letting go of my pride and as a result, experiencing a spiritual breakthrough.

  • Fighting Fear & Anxiety

Today I am talking to you about the fear that impacts trauma and abuse survivors. In chapter 2 of my book, "The Reconstructed Woman: Blueprints for a Beautiful Life" I share my own personal experience with fear, which manifested itself as anxiety when I was pregnant with my first child.

When we are harmed, hurt, or grow up in difficult environments, fear becomes a part of our body, and our nervous system. Fear needs to be released through us in order to experience peace in the mind, body and spirit. Going through a traumatic event later in life can trigger trauma that has occurred previously, and we need to have a toolkit to help us deal with this fear.

The Bible teaches us these tools, and I share them with you today.

  • Tools for Truth

Today we are kicking off with my new summer series of the podcast where in each episode I will be talking through a chapter of my book

"The Reconstructed Woman: Blueprints for a Beautiful Life".
Today I am talking about denial, and my experience with it. I was in denial about sexual abuse trauma I had gone through. I was getting triggered by people trying to help me because I wasn't ready to face the pain and confront my trauma.

Have you ever felt an uneasy emotion resurfacing when confronted with a disturbing memory, and your initial reaction is to push that feeling back down? You are not alone. Denial is a defence mechanism when we are in crisis mode, but we do need to face the trauma or it will manifest in unhealthy ways.

Christ has helped me find the tools to be able to escape the denial, and confront my past. In this episode, I explain how I was able to do that and I hope it helps you as you navigate through life's challenges.
