Your hosts, Nicky and Lisa, have kept author Alis Hawkins captive for a week now. She seems unharmed and in reasonably good spirits, even though she was given mud coffee and was randomly tortured with bad poetry. After diving deeper in her Oxford Mysteries books, along with a few of her other novels, the lovely ladies of the Red Rabbit Hole then try to pitch some welsh true crime at Alis – who will win the True crime off? Lisa with her hotel of horrors or Nicky with her Red Riding hood murder? Let’s not wait a moment longer…

Welsh author Alis Hawkins joins our hosts down the Red Rabbit Hole this week. Alis writes historical crime thrillers and mysterious and has journeyed though many a red rabbit hole, and even a weird warren or three, for her research. She talks about her books, The Oxford Mystery Series, and manages to divide Nicky and Lisa on which side of history they are on with the Skeleton Army – spoiler alert, it’s all about getting drunk! They sing some ditties, have some funny arguments and Lisa reads out yet another old poem – as bad as our Victorian poet William McGonagall? You’ll have to listen for yourself. What are you waiting for?

Yes, listeners we are heading down another Weird Warren with the Red Rabbit – strap on your spelunking gear and join Lisa and Nicky as they talk with author Hazel Atkinson about the Greek myths that inspired her audio original book with Bolinda, Dark Harvest.

Shockingly, it all gets a little academic talking about the roles of women and goddesses in Greek myths – not shockingly, Nicky and Lisa find a way to bring the tone down! Fortunately, Hazel knows her stuff, so let’s head on down and have a listen…

It’s what you’ve been waiting for…the conclusion of Lorraine Mace’s interview about her book Pins and Needles and the Harold Shipman case.

Nicky finishes her story regarding her brief brush with a potential doctor of death (probably sounds more dramatic than it was, but as she’s a thriller author, we’ll let her have it)

Lisa delves into the records of Harold Shipman’s potential first victim who survived, and the ladies try, once again to profile the killer. They should really leave it to the professionals, but have jumped down far too many dark rabbit holes of research to give up that easily.

Lorraine reveals her next book, The Family Home and agrees to come back down the Red Rabbit Hole to discuss her book Bye Bye Baby and the Madeline McCann case, as long as your host agree to let her out for a little bit to make the most of that Spanish sun.

Lisa is our guide as she takes us through the Red Rabbit Hole’s weird warrens of fairy tales and the folklore of changelings. Of course, there’s a few gritty true crime cases spattered in there too.

With all the research she’s done, Nicky gets a bit suspicious as to whether the real Lisa showed up to the recording – and quite rightly so! Although, we all preferred changeling Lisa, so we’ve now hired her.

They’ve done it again, gotten their claws into another author and dragged them down into the Red Rabbit Hole. Lorraine Mace is the bestselling author of psychological thrillers and police procedures. Author of the D.I. Sterling series of novels, she joins Nicky and Lisa from her sunny home in Spain to talk about her book Pins and needles which was inspired by the Harold Shipman case.

Your lovely ladies talk about Harold Shipman’s crimes, how he got away with so many murders, and how he got caught. They even, and prepare yourself, try to profile him. Quickly, they discover that he was not an Angel of Death, leaving Nicky’s research on this episode in the dust. Fortunately, Pod Lisa is back and her research is spot on!
