It's what happens when life gets too busy and we forget to shut down some of the figurative tabs in our busy lives! Just as with a computer, having too many tabs open can make the operating system run slow and sluggish. Have you experienced this?
In this episode we talked about how often we check if we've got too many tabs open on our devices; how many tabs were open in our heads that day; what gets forgotten because our brains have too many tabs open; strategies for when we have too many tabs open in our heads; how we decide which plates to spin and which to drop; and when TMT has got us in to a pickle.

May 06, 2026 Episode 77 - In conversation with Stefan Thomas
We had an absolute blast putting the world to rights with Stefan Thomas in this episode, so we hope that comes across and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed doing it.
Stefan Thomas is the author of Business Networking for Dummies, the founder of Connect Network, and a professional speaker and MC. His clients include BT, Lloyds Bank, The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the Loo of the Year Awards and many more.
He lives in Oxfordshire with his wife Sharon and between them they have five grown up children. Outside of work, Stefan is still a punk and has been to over 750 punk gigs in his lifetime - and has several already booked this year!
In this episode we started by asking Stefan about his role as MC for the Loo Of The Year Awards, which is something he has a vested interest in as an ulcerative colitis sufferer. We loved his quote from Becky Wall, the owner of the awards, which is: "poo is the last taboo!". It probably is, and it really shouldn't be!
Then we asked him - given his background as a veteran networker with huge expertise, has written books, coached people on speaking and networking etc - what brings him the most joy about networking.
We finished by asking him how he feels he's making a positive difference in the world.
Then it was time to turn the tables and let him ask a question of us, so he asked what changes we've seen in business along the way, both positive and negative.
We came away from this one feeling really uplifted and, yet again, it's great to be able to shine a light on things that are still surrounded by taboo; something we love to do on this show!

We talked about how a lack of self-belief can hold you back, what gives us confidence, advice for constant self-doubters, examples of when our self-belief has been challenged, why self-love is such an important ingredient for self-belief and confidence, and go-to strategies when self-belief and confidence needs a boost.

This episode with David was so much fun and it was a great and eclectic mix of serious questions and really lighthearted ones.

So, who is David Foulkes?
He's a Presenter, Marketeer and a Memory Ambassador for new venture - Memory Makers. Working in collaboration with care providers, community groups, schools, and local organisations, they create structured opportunities for conversation and reflection that bring generations together and foster a sense of belonging.

We talked to David about what it was that made him want to get involved in Memory Makers; about his life adventures so far; and where he would like to see Memory Makers go in the future.
