When people talk about or think of domestic abuse and family violence, it's often about how much it hurts the adult victim. But what they may not realize is that children also experience domestic violence/abuse when they witness or are exposed to it. This may affect their physical, emotional, social, and mental wellbeing. It can affect their developmental growth and the choices they make in life.
My guest speaker on this episode is Naomi Adedoyin. Naomi is a survivor of domestic abuse, she witnessed and also experienced domestic abuse as a child. She shared the impact of domestic violence/abuse growing up, the choices she made as an adult, and also in her relationships.
We discussed how to support and help children recover after witnessing domestic violence/abuse.
She is a single mom with three amazing kids. She is passionate about transforming lives and empowering women. She is also deeply concerned about women and redefining society's perception of women and the gender-based obstacles that diverse women experience.
Through programs in her foundation (Enough Woman Foundation), she empowers abused and vulnerable women to rewrite their stories and live meaningful lives.

Hello and welcome to the 5th episode of the Restored Hope Podcast.
It can be quite difficult to know how to support a friend or loved one who is experiencing domestic abuse.
In this episode, I shared different ways you can support victims and survivors of domestic abuse. What you should say and shouldn’t say to someone experiencing domestic abuse. I would say one of the reasons why some women stay in an abusive relationship is due to lack of support from friends and family or not knowing how to support the victim, what to say, what not to say.

In this episode, we talked about what Domestic Violence and Abuse means and the types of abuse the perpetrator uses to exert power and control over the victim or survivor.
Domestic abuse also referred to as domestic violence or intimate partner violence is a pattern of behavior where the abusive partner exercises power and control over the victim. It does not happen just once, it tends to happen more often and later becomes more serious and severe.
Episode 1 - My Why - In this podcast, I shared what Restored Hope is all about.
My desire and hope are that through listening to this podcast, victims, survivors of domestic abuse, and anyone going through adversity that is so overwhelming, will be inspired, empowered, find hope, healing, and restoration and begin to manifest their God-given purpose.
