  • #60 Pelosi Attack is Proof America is Sick Politically.

Rick Sanchez welcomes activist Samantha Barrios to discuss the home invasion and brutal attack suffered by Paul Pelosi, husband of current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.  The attack on Pelosi was further magnified when conspiracy theories began to appear on social media calling it fake news and when the incident started being mocked openly by the far right.  Sanchez and Barrios lament the extreme separation that exists in the US nowadays and proclaim that we should not stand for this type of disrespect.  We are losing empathy and becoming radicalized as a country.

  • #59 Fact Check: Are Latino Immigrants Bringing in Fentanyl?

Rick Sanchez welcomes show producer Scotty Mednick and journalist-podcaster Mike Leon to the show to discuss recent statements made by Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake when she claimed that Latino immigrants were mostly to blame for the fentanyl crisis in the US.  Sanchez fact-checks those statements and reveals that 86 percent of the people arrested for fentanyl drug trafficking are US citizens.  In fact, only .002 percent of Latino immigrants are caught with Fentanyl and 90 percent of the fentanyl seizures are made at legal border crossings from Americans.  Sanchez, Mednick, and Leon conclude that we should concentrate on the source of the problem and stop blaming immigrants.  The fentanyl problem in this country has nothing to do with them.

  • #58 Halloween vs El Dia de los Muertos

Rick Sanchez welcomes Podcast host Mario Gongora and they discuss the differences between Halloween and the Latin American version of the holiday called “El Dia de Los Muertos.”  Sanchez and Gongora explain that while the American version of the holiday was spawned from a tradition that came over in the 1800s with the Irish immigrants of playing tricks or pranks on your neighbors on October 31st, the Latino version takes place on November 1st and 2nd, and it involves dressing up as skeletons and building altars to honor and pay respect to loved ones who have passed away.  Gongora then presents a special, exclusive Halloween episode of his spooky podcast, “Yes, This Happened” that you will only experience here on Rick Sanchez News.

  • #57 Craziest Court Case Ever; Darrell Brooks Gets Life.

Rick Sanchez welcomes trial attorney Peter Tragos to discuss the Darrell Brooks trial, the man recently accused of intentional homicide after driving his vehicle full speed into a crowd of people in Wisconsin last year.  Brooks chose to defend himself and the trial quickly spiraled into a series of absurd and bizarre moments.  Sanchez and Tragos question whether Brooks was intentionally trying to derail the proceedings with his antics to get a mistrial or if he was as unhinged as he appeared to be.  They both agree that Judge Jennifer Dorow did a great job of being patient and never losing her cool with Brooks so that the case could go to the jury for deliberation.  In the end, Brooks was found guilty of 76 criminal counts of intentional homicide.

  • #56 Kanye Doubles Down! Latest.

Rick Sanchez and show producer Scotty Mednick break down the recent scandal surrounding Hip Hop artist Kanye West and his wild, antisemitic remarks that have been in the news lately.  Sanchez and Mednick focus on a recent interview that West did with Tucker Carlson. Fox edited and did not air the more controversial parts of the interview and only aired the parts that would appeal to their conservative audience.  Sanchez shares the controversial clips that Fox did not air and questions whether this is simply a ploy by the musical artist in order to get publicity, or if it is a sign of something deeper concerning his mental health.

  • #55 “No Mexicans or Dogs Allowed.” The Untold History of US Latinos.

Rick Sanchez welcomes Emmy-nominated filmmaker Carlos Sandoval to discuss his documentary “A Class Apart” which exposes the brutal and shameful treatment of US Latinos during the 1950s.  Sanchez and Sandoval focus on the 1954 case of Hernandez vs Texas which went all the way to the US Supreme Court in which it was ruled that Mexican Americans would now be allowed to participate as jurors, especially in cases that involved other Latinos.  Sandoval explains that in the 50s Latinos were considered white Americans but were treated with the same hatred and racism as the African Americans of that time period.  Segregated bathrooms and eating establishments, insults, hate crimes, and unfair treatment in the workplace.  It’s an ugly part of America’s history that is not in the history books but that everyone should know about.

  • #54 LA Scandal Shows Why Latinos Should Question Before Reacting.

Rick Sanchez welcomes Dr. Karina Moreno (PHD) professor of Urban Policy and Planning to further discuss the ever-evolving scandal in LA involving former City Council President Nury Martinez.  Sanchez and Moreno agree that while her choice of words was offensive and disrespectful, we must remember that this conversation was secretly recorded and that most people speak negatively about others from time to time when they think no one is listening.  While they are both very surprised that this became a national story, Sanchez concludes that when LA’s woke democratic community does something like this, it shows how little they know us.  They should have let this situation play itself out and let the public vote her out of office instead of forcing her to resign.

  • #53 LA Latinos Now Even More Powerless.

Rick Sanchez doubles down on his opinion concerning the Nury Martinez scandal in Los Angeles.  The ex-City Council President was secretly recorded saying some incendiary things in a private conversation about one of her colleague’s children last week and was forced to resign.  Sanchez digs deeper into the situation and argues that the LA Times is mostly to blame for sensationalizing the story for their benefit.  Show producer Scotty Mednick joins the conversation and they discuss the fact that the LA City Council is now forcing the other 2 Latinos present in the conversation to resign as well, leaving LA with zero Latino representation in their city council.  Sanchez and Mednick contend that there are many nuances to the Spanish language, and when taken out of context may appear to be blatantly racist when in reality they are not.  Sanchez concludes that as a Latino, all he asks for is fairness, truth, and proper context in journalism.

  • #52 US Prisons. What Really Happens Behind Bars.

Rick Sanchez welcomes Correctional professionals Antony Gangi and Connie Alleyne to discuss the current state of Prisons in the United States. Gangi and Alleyne contend that while the common misconception is that modern prisons are horrendous places that offer neither rehabilitation nor hope, they are actually full of quality reform programs with multiple success stories. While Sanchez asserts that 84 billion dollars a year is too much for this country to be spending on prisons, they all agree that a major reason for prison overpopulation is police profiling and frivolous arrests.
