Jesus alludes to the fact that some unbelievers work harder to prepare for their temporary futures than believers work to prepare for our eternal futures. In Colossians 3:2, Paul instructs us to “Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth.” It’s easy to become distracted by material things and lose sight of eternity. We must ask ourselves if we’re using our worldly wealth and resources to make an eternal impact or wasting our opportunity to make a difference.

Are you being a good steward of what God has given you? Sharing from the Parable of the Dishonest Manager, Pastor Tim urges us to faithfully manage our earthly wealth and use it to further Christ’s kingdom.

Possessions can bring us joy, but the happiness is short-lived compared to the joy that having a relationship with God can bring. I think in life it is a human desire to always want to have more, whether it be a bigger house, a better car, or the newest technology. The problem doesn’t necessarily stem from having all of these things, but the problem is how we value them and if we put them before God or use them for ourselves instead of serving and helping others.

Are you storing up your treasures on earth or in heaven? Pastor Tim addresses the issue of greed and reminds us why we should view wealth through the eyes of eternity.

Whenever I read the story of the Good Samaritan, I always think poorly of the priest and Levite. How horrible are they for not stopping and helping this person? Maybe they thought it wasn’t their problem. It could have cost them too much. They didn’t know what to do. Maybe they just didn’t care. Whatever the reason, the reality is, they looked at their neighbor with no compassion. The Samaritan showed compassion. He didn't worry about who is neighbor was but more about being a good neighbor.

As we continue "The Parables of Jesus," Pastor Tim speaks on the Parable of the Good Samaritan and encourages us to be the neighbor that we need others to be.

Their actions were an outward sign of their true nature. The sheep were loving, caring, and serving one another, especially fellow brethren; however, there were no deeds of Christ-like behavior from the goats. One group displayed evidence of the presence of Christ within them; the other group did not. This fact should prompt us to ask ourselves: does the fruit of my life reveal Christ?

By pointing to the Parable of the Sheep and Goats, Pastor Tim urges listeners to prepare for judgment day when Christ returns.

Perhaps, you aren’t using all of the gifts God has given you to make a living. Maybe you have much more that comes naturally to you; you can strike up a conversation easily with anyone and make them feel welcome, you are empathetic and a good listener, you thrive in the chaos that groups of children can bring, you enjoy organizing and creating systems, or maybe you can troubleshoot computer issues like nobody’s business. Remember, God has prepared you for many things and has given you unique talents to help lead people to Jesus.
