Big moves and grand gestures have their appeal (and their value).
However, existing commitments and other considerations often make such efforts a bit impractical.
It's okay to start small.
This might not facilitate as much progress.
Any progress, though, is better than none.
You've got this.
You might get weeds in your garden.
If you water them, they will grow.
On the other hand, if you water the flowers, they'll grow instead.
What you water is what grows.
You might not always control which thoughts you have.
Which ones get your attention, however, is up to you.
You've got this.
Many of us find helping others deeply satisfying.
Others of us simply feel obligated to do so.
Regardless, we often give so much to others that we've little left for ourselves.
We end up burnt out and depleted.
Take care of yourself first.
You can't give what you don't have.
You've got this.
No matter how well we prepare, things go wrong.
When this happens, we often stick to plans that no longer apply.
Correcting course feels like admitting we were wrong.
This may be true.
Ignoring it, however, doesn't improve the situation.
When a plan isn't working, change it.
You've got this.
No matter how hard we work on ourselves, we'll never finish the job.
We'll always fail, make mistakes, embarrass ourselves, and fall short.
Beating yourself up won't change any of that.
You'll always have room for improvement.
Have some self-compassion.
Keep doing that work.
You've got this.
It can be difficult to let go of old routines.
This is especially true of those that once served us but no longer do.
You can thank old routines and let them go.
That doesn't erase the value they've provided you.
What serves you will change.
It's okay for you to change, too.
You've got this.
It feels impossible at times to find the answers we're looking for.
We may not find any answers at all, or none are satisfying.
It might be that we need to keep searching.
However, it might also be that we aren't asking the right questions.
Are you asking the right questions?
You've got this.
It's common to identify with our emotions.
We say, "I'm angry," "I'm sad," or "I'm happy."
These emotions, however, are transient.
They're not static parts of who we are.
We aren't angry, sad, or happy.
We're feeling anger, sadness, and happiness.
You are not your emotions.
You've got this.
Who you are is not set in stone.
All your traits, characteristics, and habits are malleable.
They're all within your control to some degree.
This kind of change can take much practice.
You'll slip back toward old tendencies at times.
Give it time and effort.
You can change.
You've got this.
Seeking to learn from others has its value.
We might grow and progress with fewer costly mistakes.
In doing so, however, we often simply do as we're told.
Thus, we never truly have any experiences of our own.
Life passes us by.
What if you are the teacher you're looking for?
You've got this.
