  • Your best won't always be your best

There are days when you don't have it.

    Your eating habits are off.

    Your training is sub-par.

You don't do what you consider your best.

You showed up, put in the work, but just didn't deliver like normal.

    Don't beat yourself up.

Your best won't always be your best.

    Some days you’ll crush it.

    Other days, not so much.

When you’ve got those days that don’t go so well, ask yourself why.

    How’s your stress?

    Are you distracted or tired?

Have you spread yourself too thin?

Does the goal toward which you’re working really matter to you?

What factors played a role that were out of your control?

Was this simply a reflection of your imperfection?

    Whatever you determine, move forward.

Don’t dwell on the failings of today.

    Or yesterday.

    Get up tomorrow.

    Do your best again.

    Whatever that looks like.

    Let yourself make mistakes.

    Let yourself fail.

    Let yourself try new things.

    You’ve got one life.

Make it a most excellent one.

    You’ve got this.

  • What are healthy fats?

You might eat lots of fat.

You might not eat much fat at all.

Regardless, you likely have questions about it.

To learn the basics about dietary fats and what kinds you may or may not want to eat (and how much), see my post all about them at coachroba.com/fats

  • Maybe you will

    Maybe you won't succeed.

Maybe you won't figure it out.

Maybe you won't make it happen.

These are all very real possibilities.

But they're not the only possibilities.

There's at least one more to consider.

    Maybe you will.

    Maybe you will succeed.

Maybe you will figure it out.

Maybe you will make it happen.

Even if you don’t, there’s value in failure.

    You can learn.

    You can grow.

    You can become.

None of this will happen if you don’t try.

    You’ll stay comfortable, perhaps.

But you’ll stay right where you are.

    Bringing only regret and resentment.

Looking back and wishing you’d done it.

    Longing for yesterday.

    Today is that day.

    Change that eating habit.

    Start that training routine.

    Apply for that job.

Talk to that girl or guy.

    Whatever it is.

    Take that step.

    You’ve got this.

  • Have you built a strong foundation by consistently practicing the basics?

You could get all the cutting-edge gear, gadgets, and tools.

You could implement an advanced training program.

You could start a detailed nutrition protocol.

Will you know how to actually use them?

Have you built a strong foundation by consistently practicing the basics?

It’s so tempting to want to jump right to the latest and greatest.

It makes us feel like we’re invested.

It makes us feel like we’re committed.

It makes us feel like we’re putting ourselves in the best position to succeed.

Yet, we often struggle when we jump to the last step before the first.

We don’t know what we’re doing.

We don’t know what is or isn’t working.

We don’t know how to make adjustments.

We end up overwhelmed, confused, and frustrated.

We quit, or perhaps worse, spend months or years spinning our wheels.

    Take a step back.

Keep the long game in mind.

    Start where you are.

With what you know and what you have.

    Take one step forward.

See how it’s working for you.

    Make changes if necessary.

    Build confidence and understanding.

    Then, do it again.

    Lay that foundation.

Make it as strong as possible.

You’ll only be able to build higher.

    You’ve got this.

  • Aim for progress, not perfection

No matter how much fat you lose.

No matter how much strength you build.

No matter how you eat, train, or live.

    You'll never be perfect.

There will always be room to improve.

    Always more you could do.

Take some pressure off of yourself.

    Aim for progress, not perfection.

Value every one of those steps forward.

    Appreciate whatever momentum you build.

Recognize that you can do more.

    That you can do better.

But that this doesn’t mean you’re not enough.

It just means you have limitless capacity.

    Infinite potential.

    Immeasurable strength and drive.

No achievement or goal will make you feel worthy.

The work is what gives them their value.

    Bettering yourself.

    Putting in the work.

    Day after day.

Learning to be a better version of you.

You might reach specific goals along the way.

    You might not.

    It doesn’t matter.

All you can control is you.

    Showing up and making progress.

    You’ve got this.

  • You can't quantify your worth

    You can't quantify your worth.

Not in pounds on the bar.

Not in inches on a clothes tag.

Not in dollars in the account, letters behind the name, or any other metric.

Your worth is constant and infinite.

Dependent on nothing but you simply being you.

    Being your unique self.

There’s value in measuring the things that are important to us.

Tracking our progress toward a goal.

    Making sure we’re on course.

But there’s so much more to life than the numbers.

There’s so much more to you than any single pursuit.

    Yes, physical health may matter.

    Yes, financial security may matter.

Yes, many of these things we work for may matter.

But they’re not what make us matter.

    They’re not who we are.

They’re not what gives us our value.

That value is free from any other metric.

    You are valuable.

    You always have been.

    You always will be.

    Keep pushing yourself to grow.

Keep striving for your best life.

    Not to become valuable.

    But because you are valuable.

    Right now, as you are.

    You’ve got this.

  • Your diet isn't only what you eat

Your diet isn't only what you eat.

    It's the books you read.

    It's the shows you watch.

It's the people with whom you spend your time.

They’re all parts of your diet.

All shaping who you are and what you become.

Determining what kind of life you’ll live.

What do you think of your diet?

How does it align with what you want for yourself and your life?

    Is it moving you forward?

    Is it holding you back?

What small change could you make to it today?

    What can you let go?

    What can you add in?

This will be an ongoing process.

    Trying new things.

    Seeing how they work.

    Some of them will.

    Some of them won’t.

    You’ll have wins and losses.

    Success and failures.

    You’ll make mistakes.

    That’s okay.

    Keep showing up.

    Keep doing the work.

Keep shaping your diet for your best life.

You are worthy of that life.

    You’ve got this.
