Shen Yun is a classical Chinese dance troupe based in upstate New York dedicated to showcasing traditional culture, faces bomb threats and violent emails on a daily basis, often linked to the Chinese Communist Party. Shen Yun was created to revive China’s traditions—showcasing its beauty before communism. Now, reports indicate that the CCP is influencing mainstream media and regulatory agencies to push its agenda—a strategy that could be used against any institution in the future. That is right, America will go to the ends of the earth to find and hold accountable those who attack us, no matter how long it takes. Yemen is back in the news these days because thanks to President Trump’s bold decision, we are once again, holding terrorists in Yemen accountable for not only attacking American Naval forces, but even civilian commercial shipping in the international waters of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. In this 25th year of the attack that happened there against the USS Cole, killing 17 Americans, it is important for us to not just commemorate the anniversary, but remind ourselves why these men and women sacrificed so much for us, giving up their lives, and who they were. We also need to remember the heroism and courage of the crew and how they responded, saving the ship so that it could eventually be returned to service, their actions were nothing less than miraculous! Finally, we want to keep those who survived and the families, especially because accountability is not yet complete against all the planners and attackers on the Cole that day, in our prayers. My guest today to help us remember is retired US Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Paul Abney. Chief Abney enlisted in the Navy at age 19 and rose quickly through the ranks as a Surface Sonar Technician and was a Master Chief on the USS Cole that day in October 2000 when it was attacked by terrorists.🇺🇸Colonel's Brief is a reader-supported publication. Payment in Iron, that is the title of the only US Navy art that hangs in my office. It depicts the USS Constitution leading the American response on pirates in payment for their attacks on US commercial shipping in Africa during the Jefferson administration. The United States has always defended ourselves at sea and our Navy continues that tradition today as it attacks the Houthi pirates in Yemen for their disruption of international shipping lanes. Thanks to the Trump Administration the Houthis are once again designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, following their hundreds of attacks against commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Note they don’t attack Chinese shipping but have conducted over 300 attacks against the US Navy and other commercial ships. A lot of questions remain unanswered, however. Iran has been provided targeting intelligence and command and control ships for the Houthi anti-shipping operation, but will we stop them now? Will we continue to spread our Navy thin in the Indo-Pacific or will we eventually choose to use civilian contractors to take the Houthis down, as is authorized in the constitution? Strategically, can we address our weak shipbuilding capabilities and get back on track to overtake our main adversary’s capability that is hundreds of times more productive than u=ours and our allies combined? We’re going to revisit the missing children issue as many times as it takes and for as long as it takes, until they are all found. I’m not naïve, some of these kids are dead but we must find them. Some of these kids are being actively used in child sex rings, and we must find them. Some of these kids are being used in forced labor, and we must find them. And some of these children are simply at locations and with people unknown because our government failed them and failed them intentionally. This issue is at the top of Tom Homan’s priority list and he’s right to focus on it. If we don’t recover these children, our country is a complete failure because these kids are the future of not only our country, but the entire Western Hemisphere, where most of them come from. We hear it all the time, “we need a whole of government approach” to this or that but if you want to see how that concept works in action, just take a moment to observe the Trump administration’s amazing work securing the borders and the interior from illegal aliens, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and countering terrorism from the drug cartels, trans-national violent gangs, Islamists, and Chinese nationals! $2.7 trillion, that’s a really big number and Elon Musk’s DOGE team publicized it as the total of improper payments they are discovering in their auditing effort of Medicaid and Medicare in early February. By each agency’s own recent public admissions, they make more than $30 billion of improper payments every year! This has to stop. While we Americans have a lot of disagreements on healthcare these days, on this issue, we mostly agree that these funds must be spent on our citizens that need the services and fraud, waste and abuse must be eliminated in these agencies! We live in a country that has a $37 trillion debt and now pay more than a trillion dollars a year in interest on it, that is more than we spend on defense. My guest today is author Sally Pipes. She is President, CEO, and Thomas W. Smith Fellow in Health Care Policy at the Pacific Research Institute. She’s joining me to discuss her opinion piece from just a little over a week ago in NewsMax titled “Time to Administer DOGE to Medicare, Medicaid” where she points out “The two government programs have been cesspools of malfeasance, incompetence, and duplicity for too long. That’s the question, what is the reason all three of the service’s top lawyers were removed in the first DOD Friday night firing? We’re going to work through the answer very specifically today because there is a lot going on with the weaponization of the military legal system. Yes, I said it and you shouldn’t take my words lightly. I’m someone who was privileged to wield court martial authority and supervise JAG offices as a senior commander. I once had absolute faith in the JAG corps and our system of military justice. But something went wrong. I’m sure it happened over time, including when I was in the service, but the public culmination of the disaster was when whistleblowers revealed our troops in America’s military had their rights stripped from them, we see open law breaking by commanders, and a strong record of really bad legal advice by the JAG Corp to Commanders. These actions have resulted in estimated nearly 100,000 service members being forced to leave doing what they love, members who’ve been physically devastated and are not being compensated for those injuries, and multiple unintended consequences damaging recruiting, retention, and most importantly our readiness to fight and win America’s wars. I am honored to have two guests today to help us understand why this needed to be done. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced last Tuesday that the White House has taken control over the make up the White House press pool, brushing aside the liberal White House Correspondents’ Association. The WHCA provided a laughable response screeching that the move is an attack on a free and independent press.
