With the shutdown in its 24th day, Ronn talked with U,S, Congressman Ro Khanna, who represents Silicon Valley. Like most people in the Bay Area,  he looks at this standoff as pure politics, pushing for something that won't do much for lowering illegal immigration. Instead, it is  purely designed to solidify his base. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to be working, with even the conservative Republican leaning Rassmussen Report now shows the President with his lowest approval record yet, with 55 percent giving thumbs down to his performance. With the President flying to the US/Mexico border, Ronn discussed the issue of the wall with Mark Curtis, Political Analyst for patch.com. After President Trump suddenly walked away from his meeting with Congressional leaders and the partial government shutdown in its 20th day, what is the public mood? Mark believes although it's  the only issue people are talking about in the Beltway, middle America is hardly paying attention. Asked how he thought this problem will be resolved, Curtis said the President could give Democrats the DACA bill they want and perhaps lower the amount he wants for the wall friom $5.7 billion to around $3.5 billion. Ronn agreed on DACA but did not see the President lowering his monetary demand. Two major political subjects deserved commentary, and for that we talked with Gary Dietrich, KGO's political analyst. First was Governor Newsom's Inaugural Speech. As is the case with most of these, it was strong on vision but slim on details. It's that time of the year when film critics around the country come up with their Top Ten lists.  With that in mind, Ronn talked with Ann Hornaday about her favorites.  As is often the case with film reviewers, their picks rarely match the Top Ten highest grossing films because their concern is the artistry of the movies they see.
