Harry Belafonte was one of the greatest entertainers of all time, but his most important work may have happened far beyond the stage. The legendary singer, actor, humanitarian, and civil rights activist spent his life fighting injustice, championing equality, and inspiring generations to use their voices for change.

Now, the extraordinary documentary FOLLOWING HARRY takes us inside the final twelve years of his remarkable life, revealing the man behind the legend and the movement he helped build.

On this special edition of The Roundtable with Robert Bannon, we welcome acclaimed filmmaker Susanne Rostock and activist Carmen Perez for a powerful conversation about the importance of art, activism, mentorship, and the responsibility we all share in shaping the future.

Rostock, the award-winning filmmaker behind Sing Your Song, returns to Belafonte's story with an intimate portrait that follows the icon through some of the most significant social movements of the past decade. From the aftermath of Trayvon Martin's death and the protests in Ferguson to the Women's March and private conversations with a new generation of leaders, FOLLOWING HARRY captures a man who refused to stop working for justice.

Carmen Perez, a nationally recognized civil rights leader and organizer who worked alongside Belafonte, represents the next generation of activists carrying his mission forward. Through her involvement, the documentary explores how Belafonte's extraordinary wisdom, experience, and determination continue to inspire meaningful action.

Featuring appearances by Jamie Foxx, Rosario Dawson, Jesse Williams, Chuck D, Aloe Blacc, Angela Davis, Talib Kweli, and more, FOLLOWING HARRY is not simply a celebration of an American icon. It is a powerful reminder that the fight for equality is far from over.

The film also examines the deeply personal questions of aging, legacy, and what it means to pass the torch to a generation facing challenges of its own.

What does it mean to be an artist with a purpose? How do we honor those who came before us? And perhaps most importantly, what are we willing to do to make the world better for those who come next?

These are the questions at the heart of FOLLOWING HARRY and the reason Harry Belafonte's voice remains as vital today as ever.

Join Robert Bannon for a meaningful celebration of an extraordinary life, an unforgettable legacy, and a call to action that belongs to all of us.

Because Harry Belafonte didn't just make history. He challenged the rest of us to make a difference.

What happens when a play written more than a century ago still has something important to say today?

Director Britt Berke joins Robert Bannon on The Roundtable to talk about PHYL, the rarely seen comedy by pioneering playwright and women's rights advocate Cecily Hamilton, now making its New York premiere with Mint Theater Company.

Britt takes us inside this fascinating production, the story of a spirited young governess determined to break free from society's expectations, and the remarkable history of a play that was once banned from its planned Oxford premiere.

It's a conversation about theater, rediscovery, strong women, and why stories from the past can still speak so powerfully to audiences today.

PHYL runs through November 7, 2026, at Theatre Row in New York City, with its official opening October 22.

Who really controls Broadway? Who decides which shows get produced, which artists get opportunities, and how much audiences pay for tickets?

On this episode of The Roundtable with Robert Bannon, we welcome acclaimed author, legal scholar, and Broadway producer Spencer Weber Waller to discuss his fascinating new book, Power and Greed: Monopolies, Mergers, and Cartels on the American Stage.

From the powerful theater syndicates of the Gilded Age to the rise of the Shubert empire, Waller pulls back the curtain on the business deals, rivalries, and monopolies that shaped American entertainment.

And the story doesn't stop on Broadway! We're talking about Live Nation, Ticketmaster, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour ticketing controversy, and the ongoing battle over who holds the power in live entertainment.

A professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, former federal prosecutor, and co-producer of the Broadway revival of The Who's Tommy, Waller brings a unique perspective to the intersection of entertainment, business, and the law.

It's Broadway history, backstage drama, and big business all rolled into one conversation!

📖 Power and Greed is available now from Bloomsbury Publishing.
