HEY FAM, guess what time it is? It might just be the time to find a career you LOVE! But don’t freak out, because we got all the help you need to land that perfect position! This week, I got to sit down with the fantastic Bill Leonard, founder of Leonard Workforce Solutions. If you can’t find a job and you don’t know why, Bill can tell you why. PLUS he has some advice on how to land that dream job! So, get your pen and paper, because you are going to want to take some notes.
Bill and I chatted about so many things, including the job market and how hard it is for recent graduates to find a full-time job. Luckily, there’s hope… Bill! He shared three secrets that every job seeker should know. He also revealed what a lot of job seekers get wrong when applying for jobs…
For starters, a lot of people still expect jobs to be remote after the pandemic, but Bill explains why that may not be true. Another bit of advice from Bill is that people should not feel discouraged in today’s job market. He wants everyone job hunting to know that it is okay and normal to need some help during this long and difficult process! Not many have that person to go to and say “Hey, I’m stuck and I need some help.” Well, Bill is happy to be that person for you and is ready to find the job that’s right for you.
That’s another thing that Bill stresses to me during our conversation: why it’s important to go into the job hunt/ interview with a completely open mind. If you score an interview for a job, find out why you should not go into the interview thinking “this is the perfect job for me, I need this!” As much as you need to be right for the job, the job also has to be right for YOU. And you may not know right away the right job… and Bill explains why that’s perfectly okay!
Bill even has some helpful advice for those just looking to change careers; you don’t have to be right out of college to benefit from Bill’s expertise! Bill said that now more than ever before people are looking for a career change and reprioritizing their lives! It can happen at any stage of life! It’s important to always challenge yourself. Otherwise, life just becomes… well… boring! Bill spells out why that career development should ALWAYS be a goal, not just right after graduation.
Here is one more interesting suggestion Bill has: bring a company a hard copy of your resume and cover letter! If you want to stand apart from other candidates, the best way to do that is to show the company that you really care. Even if this isn’t your dream job, make the company feel like it is. The boss might be really impressed with your ambition and is more likely to remember you! Bill also told me why networking is the most important thing to do while job hunting. One interesting tip: if meeting in person isn’t an option, then mailing the hard copy of your resume and cover letter will also do the trick!
You definitely don’t want to miss out on this amazing advice from NEPA’S career matchmaker! Bill Leonard is your one-stop-shop for career expertise! He knows the market, and he knows the rules; so don’t try to do this on your own, stop into Leonard Work Solutions and see what Bill can do for YOU!

HEY FAM! Welcome to a special edition of our podcast: We ARE celebrating! It’s the one-year anniversary of my very own company called Ryan Leckey Media. But on this week’s episode of the Ryan Leckey Show, it’s role reversal time! My good friend and outstanding co-worker, Erich Granahan, takes on the very daunting challenge of interviewing the one and only… ME! That’s right, peeps, I’m in the hot seat this time! So put on your headphones and sit back for a fun episode!Erich and I sat down to chat about the company I created right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Ryan Leckey Media. The decision to leave my job as morning reporter at WNEP-TV was not an easy one for me; and leaving 16 wasn’t easy for Erich either! He left his job as a photographer at the TV station to join Ryan Leckey Media! We both have a very deep love for WNEP and everyone inside of it. But for me, after Covid hit, I realized that times were changing, and so was my career. My passion and love for media was still there, but that passion evolved as media itself was evolving. No longer was it just broadcasting on television, media was now so much more: websites, commercial ads, and, even bigger, social media. Just like so many others, Covid got me thinking that it was time for a change in my life… and that change was a pretty big one!It was one year ago, when I took a giant leap of faith, and started my own company. I was basically on my own. I started with only a handful of clients and one part-time worker who helped me keep my start-up organized. On this week’s podcast, Erich and I chitter-chatter about the difficulties I faced during the early months of my business. It definitely wasn’t easy to get where I am today- four full-time employees, including the talented Erich Granahan, several part-time employees, some top-notch equipment and, thankfully, a ton of amazing clients! I could never have done any of it without the support of my family, friends, and partner, Matt. Their belief in me helped me create a successful business that produces high-quality media for so many other businesses in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. I am so passionate about using my business to help other businesses find the success they deserve.Although I talk on the podcast… Like a LOT, I want to give a big, giant thank you to E-Money for asking me some awesome questions about my decision to start my business and how that’s changed my life completely. If you were wondering what I have been up to since leaving WNEP, then tune into this week's episode of The Ryan Leckey Show! You are sure to get the inside scoop on everything Ryan Leckey Media!FAM! Don't forget you can listen to every episode of The Ryan Leckey Show on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and anywhere else you listen to your favorite podcasts!
