In this episode Joyce walks us through her life, revealing how she went from a West Side Scranton Native and the former Marywood graduate to the CEO of a supermarket chain that now employs nearly 1400 people and has 10 retail locations in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties of Pennsylvania! We also learn of Joyce’s early days as a school teacher in the Scranton area and ultimately the decisions made that brought her and her husband into the grocery business.

Joyce also opens up about what it was like to be a female CEO of a major grocery store chain in the 1990’s to making it through the never-to-be-forgotten toilet paper and hand sanitizer shortages of the Covid pandemic.Joyce also explains the current changing landscape of local supermarkets, especially in the aftermath of the pandemic.

As with any working parent, Joyce tells us all about the juggling it takes to manage her home and work life balance and about the importance FAMILY has played in the Gerrity’s Supermarket legacy. We touch on the future plans of the grocery store chain, including the family’s newest venture into the Ace Hardware Store sector.
