GOODNESS this is a wonderful episode, and I'm so excited about this week. What continues to be so beautiful about the Saltworks is how every voice, culture, perspective, and every age can teach us something. Angel Pourrajabi is on the podcast today, and it's just gold. Her heart, her humor, and the faith in her incredible story are all so contagious. Angel shares how she grew up in Uganda and was adopted at age 12. She gives us perspective of how God was seen at that time in Uganda and how she sees Him now. I love the beautiful picture she paints of a young girl with an impossible dream and how a faithful God has continued to lead her along that path despite all odds and many obstacles. We also talk about His faithfulness despite our own faulty expectations and what it looks like to seek Him amidst singleness. We do have multiple interruptions today as you know how that goes around here, but man am I glad we just kept rolling. Enjoy, friends, and let us know what spoke to you most!Send us Fan Mail
Yall. What an amazing story, and what an amazing person to boldly share it. Gaelin Craighead is on the podcast today, and she is everything brave and vulnerable all in one. Stories like Gaelin's are the very heart of why this podcast is important to me, because without hearing someone's background, we'd really have no idea what people have had to overcome. You will see that theme so strongly in her story, but at the same time, the beautiful way she paints God's provision all throughout the hardship. We do talk about some older topics for anyone who might usually listen with younger listeners. Gaelin's story comes from a childhood of two alcoholics and the many hardships that go along with it, so just a heads up for parents out there. We talk about the Lord's provision even in situations we want to question where he was, and we talk about the big answer to all of our "why" questions. She's funny, she's wise, she's honest-- you're just gonna love her, so go listen now! If you haven't seen Gaelin's art, make sure you click the link below to see what she's up to and put in your custom order for gifts or that empty spot in your kitchen that's been needing that little something for a while now! https://gccreativellc.weebly.com/#/Send us Fan Mail
Welcome back to the Saltworks, friends! It's Season 2, and we're starting out strong, because Christina Albritton is on the podcast this week! She's a mom of 3, a pastor's wife, a 7th grade teacher, and one of my real life friends. She's the trip guru, fun-planner, and deep talks at sonic friend. In our episode today we talk about Christina's perception of feeling behind when she became a Christian and how that can feel as an adult walking into the church. We talk about how to deal with those feelings and what to do about them. We talk a lot on adoption and the calling we have as believers to support those with who feel the call to adopt. We talk about the feeling of inadequacy at all stages and the need to control or chase perfection-- and the truth that Jesus brings us in that. I'm so excited you are here, and I know you'll love this conversation as much as I do!Send us Fan Mail
I CANNOT believe it's the LAST episode of Season 1 here in the Saltworks!! And I have to say I've never been so relaxed to record and so afraid to press publish. Today I swapped seats and sat in the guest chair while my great friend Emily Jones stepped in as host. We had such a great time, and I enjoyed giving her full reign over the conversation and the questions, but man is it hard being on this side too! I hope you enjoy the conversation today-- we dove pretty deep into obedience, calling, the idol of affirmation, people-pleasing, and what it looks like to be ministers of reconciliation. Thank you Emily for being the best and most gracious host-- even if you did paint me in a better light than is probably true! And I want to say thank you to all of the listeners, guests, encouragers, everyone who has shared or reached out-- you made this such a special year. It's been so fun, and I can't wait to be back with yall in Season 2 coming in the fall!Send us Fan Mail
Dr. Amy Givler is on the podcast this morning and it is SO good. What a way to wind down the very first season of the Saltworks. Amy shares with us today first and foremost that her identity is rooted in being a follower of Christ, and you will see that in so many ways. Beginning with her incredible story of how she became a Christian and continuing through every season following. The words I hear in my heart when Amy shares her story with us today are faith and assurance-- both of which she has so firmly placed in Jesus over and over. You'll hear that today as we talk about her journey through medical school, early years of marriage, building a family unit, her walk through cancer, and both her career as a doctor and a writer. I mean, y'all!! The woman has done it all! And in every step, she shows us how to be rooted in the Word and unafraid to be counter-cultural. Such a beautiful testament to God's goodness, and I can't wait for you to listen in too! This episode is just packed FULL of wisdom and faith, just like it's guest Emily Cassis. For those of you who know her, you know this. For those of you who don't, you're just going to love her! On today's episode, Emily shares her strong faith right from the beginning through her bold prayers for her mom's recovery. In the episode, we'll talk about God's provision as He moved her exactly where she needed to be and as she blindly obeyed. We also take a deep-dive into marriage, what it looks like to be on the same team, generational curses, and how to respectfully advocate our own needs and feelings. Ya'll, it was so good, and I cannot wait to share it with you!Send us Fan Mail
The reason we cannot fully know what love is without knowing its Creator is because it does indeed come in many different forms, and so it must be understood from the heart of love itself. From the very character of God. Because love is this way, pride is much the same. We could not rightly recognize pride, though perhaps in one example, without knowing its origins as well. And the reason is much the same. Love grows without us realizing it because when we are faithful and obedient consistently, we will one day look back and realize it was growing all along, though so slowly, seeming like nothing was happening. Pride however, purposefully grows unnoticed, because we do not want to see it. Pride does not always portray itself as such, which I would argue is the most devastating kind. And the reason for this is that its origins come straight from the father of lies himself. And he does not show himself as such, but disguises himself as an angel of light. If his very character is to disguise himself as light, why would pride prance around as what it truly is? No, its quieter. More sinister, and more times than not, is disguised also as light and good.
Today we talk all about what pride actually is, how to see it in our lives, how we've gotten there, and how to face it head on. The only way to walk free from pride is through the antidote of humility, but we must rightly understand how to do that-- and that's going to come through the example of Jesus Christ, Humility Himself.
I hope you enjoy today's episode-- if it steps on your toes, it stepped on mine too! And remember, though we talk on hard topics this week, grace covers all, and the only purpose in talking on these is for people to realize they are truly free and He is truly good and trustworthy. Have a great week, friends! See you next week on the Saltworks with another amazing guest!

I did not know if I had it in me this week to interview, but GUYS this episode was something I needed to hear and you will too! Talk about divine appointment. Chris Horrell is on the podcast this week, and Andrew Dye— world's best co-host—is back with me. You do. not. want. to. miss. this. one! Chris talks all about divine appointments today. What they are, what they look like, how we all have them, and which ones led to his life changing forever. What I love about Chris's story is that his divine appointments have become divine appointments for so many others, his family included, and even today as you listen to his testimony. I always wish we had more time, but this episode is packed with so much wisdom, clarity, and truth. So press play on your drive, while you fold laundry, go for a walk, whatever you have today, and be encouraged. I don't know about yall, but I'm ready to start this short week now!Send us Fan Mail
Happy Tuesday everybody! Thanks for letting us take a small pause on the podcast for real-life reasons, but we are so glad to be back! Blake Shelby was on the podcast today along with my husband Andrew, and yall, we went there! Blake's story alone is so good, from his fun stories and work experience to his hunting adventures, but also the vital role of God-fearing men in his life from a very early age. It comes as no surprise that he has a big heart for that exact mission. Woven in his story and personal ministry is the importance of male leadership and dismantling ideas like "toxic masculinity." We talk about what masculinity is, what it isn't, femininity, what actually makes things toxic, and God's good design for it all even from the beginning of time. We also dive into the honesty and willingness to share that we must have as church members. You don't want to miss it, friends! Hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did!Send us Fan Mail
She is mother of 3 and author of Grief Unwrapped—Discovering Joy in a Season of Sorrow. Patricia Cameron is on the podcast today, and she is bringing with her some much needed truth and comfort. Conversations on grief are so important, because they are not just for the grieving or acute seasons of grief. Not only will we all grieve in our lifetime, but there are many different forms and reasons that bring it. Moreover, we are walking and will walk alongside those who are grieving, and so this conversation and message is for everyone. Patricia has dedicated her time and life to this message which is the hope we find in Jesus Christ not just for eternal life, but for abundant life today and a deep-rooted joy that circumstances cannot take. Are there layers and seasons of great hardship where joy feels elusive? Absolutely, and we talk about that today. But is there hope even amidst the hardest and darkest days? Always. And his name is Jesus. Patricia also shares with us a brand new project she is working on and it might just launch this year! You don't want to miss this friends.
