Abraham replied, "God Himself will provide a lamb for the sacrifice." And on Mountain of God, Abraham saw the heart of God given to us "that God so loved the world He gave His only Son." In this world, though it looks like madness, the dance of faith begins on Mt. Moriah.

Sodom is destroyed and yet Sodom is made new. And if Sodom is redeemed, there is only one Redeemer. If Sodom is redeemed, the God-man must have finally visited Sodom, stood in the breach and argued with God..

God tells Sarah to name the blessing "Laughter." Maybe He's telling us something. Maybe if we really understood the good news, we couldn't stop laughing.

God tells Abraham that all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him and then asks him to be circumcised. But the circumcision of the flesh is a symbol of the circumcision of the heart: cutting away the flesh to reveal "that spot" the most intimate and sensitive place to our Heavenly Father.

Haggar gives birth to Ishmael, and God makes a great nation out of him. But like Sarah, we think there is only so much blessing to go around. And so we tell ourselves, they're not chosen to be blessed. When in fact they are chosen to be blessed through us, if we've seen the blessing: the one who sees.

We crucified Love on the Tree of Knowledge and went insane. For love is the meaning of all knowledge. Surrender your insanity and receive the mind of Christ, God's sanity, the Beautiful Mind.

For liberals, God tends to be a huge concept like goodness, truth, mercy, and love. Conservatives love the idea that God is all about righteousness and truth. May you be liberal enough to look everywhere for his hand, and I hope you’re conservative enough to tell everyone the one you’re looking for is Jesus.

God called Abraham to a journey of faith, just like he calls you. And you would think the journey would be easy, but in fact it's not. We think faith is necessary for the journey, but the journey is necessary for faith. And the journey ends where it begins: the heart of God—Jesus.

Abraham was blessed by God, but Abraham is the blessing. In this world, it is more blessed to give than to receive but it's also more painful. In heaven, everyone gives and receives--it's a constant party, a great dance, ecstatic, love and life. But in this world, no one passes the ball. No one passes the blessing; no one passes the blessing, themselves.
