  • David Thomas: Shattering self-limiting beliefs
David Thomas’s story is of one of a tragic childhood that has been transformed into a jaw-dropping story of achievement and success. Born in Yorkshire, David suffered a seriously abusive childhood at the hands of his mother and stepfather. This start in life led him to major under-achievements in school, a criminal conviction and attempts at suicide at the young age of 16. You’d find it hard to imagine how any youngster could go on to turn their life into a positive one. During his time serving with the fire service in 1996 he was inspired by a man he saw on TV that memorised a pack of cards, so he bought himself a book on memory improvement. Within 8 months he came 4th in the ‘World Memory Championships’ and has since gone on to become known as one of the most powerful memories in history with several titles to his name, including ‘Guinness Memory Record Breaker’ and ‘US Memory Champion’. He’s also been a professional speaker for over 20 years, having spoken in over 21 countries worldwide and is also a Sunday Times #1 bestselling author. His direct form of speaking is intended to unsettle the audience into assessing where their life is currently at and goes on to help people overcome adversity and the major challenges life throws at us.
David talks to Sandro about his traumatic childhood, the art of mind-mapping and the importance of an exercise regime in keeping depression at bay.

  • Elliott Shuttleworth: Putting yourself in a position to get lucky
Entrepreneur, Elliott Shuttleworth set up his first business, ‘Gym Squad’ when he was in University. It was so successful he went on to sell it which allowed him to set up ‘Flip Out’ in 2015 and he opened one of the first trampoline parks in the UK, making over £12 million!
Following such a successful start and clearly with a talent for making business ventures successful, Elliott set up ‘Rafful’ in 2018 to create and raise awareness for non-profit organisations and charities. Seeing an opportunity from the huge amount that the UK donates to charity every year - over £9.7 billion to charity last year alone – he set up his innovative new venture which is a prize draw that allows ticket buyers the chance to win once in a lifetime experiences in return for their generosity. With the motto ‘It’s good to give’, it shows a refreshing side to entrepreneurialism, allowing Elliott to not only reap the rewards for his own hard work, but allowing others to benefit too.
Elliott talks to Sandro about his initial business plan being “a load of waffle” and taking a leap of faith, whilst being a little reckless on his quest for success. Find out how that, combined with the right attitude and a huge amount of enjoyment, led to him becoming so successful at such a young age.

  • Paul Rowlett: Having an idea and doing something with it
Paul Rowlett served in the Royal Navy during the Gulf War but when he left in 2004 he found himself in a desperate situation, both homeless and penniless. After his house was repossessed in 2011 he was dependent on friends for a roof over his head. How he turned his life around is quite remarkable. Needing some focus in life, he set up an online business selling branded merchandise for various companies. When Leicester City Council approached him to become the city’s preferred supplier of merchandise for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, the demand for his products shot thorough the roof! Following this huge success, he went on to set up the online business ‘Everything Branded’ which now employs 120 people, turns over £17 million every year and is expanding into the USA. And through sheer determination and hard work, his homeless days are behind him and he is the proud owner of a £1 million home and a Ferrari!

  • Ed Djafer: Setting yourself manageable, achievable and measurable goals
Author and Health & Performance coach, Ed Djafer, started out in life as a shy boy that was low in confidence, and as he progressed through school he started carrying extra weight that knocked his confidence even lower. As soon as he got the opportunity to leave school, he did as he couldn’t bear being in situations with other children, such as PE that drew any attention to him. To say he turned his life around is an understatement. Once he changed his mindset and decided to tackle his weight issues and low confidence face-on, he started weight-lifting and soon found himself confident enough to take centre stage in life.
His new-found confidence led him to become a personal fitness trainer and write a book ‘The Muscle & Hustle Method Book’, specifically targeting entrepreneurial men that don’t have the time to spend hours in the gym and watching what they eat. Ed’s ethic is that if we can focus on staying in shape, this leads to more confidence and energy and this then fuels business and relationship success. He now offers online coaching to help men take control of their health and transform their bodies with a realistic training schedule.
Ed talks to Sandro about his fitness journey and having that enough is enough moment which sparked action. He also compares a fitness journey to a successful business journey and the 6 steps he feels are integral to that success in both the workplace and the gym.

  • Eva Hamilton MBE: Recognising that every single one of us has a choice in life
For over 30 years, Eva Hamilton MBE has worked with society’s marginalised groups and she has been responsible for coming up with pioneering, radical approaches to dealing with some of the UK's most complex social problems. She now is CEO of her own UK charity, ‘Key4Life’, which aims to rehabilitate youth offenders to help stop them reoffending and help reintegrate them back into society once released from prison. She was awarded an MBE for these services by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2005.
Eva’s rebellious childhood was a starting point for her choosing the path to help others, and it was from her own personal experiences, including her own mental and emotional health experiences, that she recognised the importance of having inspirational role models in youngsters’ lives. Her journey led her to work at one of Mother Theresa’s homes for the dying in Calcutta and it was here she had a vision that her destiny wasn’t to make big money but instead to help change the world. She followed her calling and her charity does exactly that. The statistics speak for themselves; with every offender that goes through one of ‘Key4Life’s programmes being 4 times less likely to return to prison and 4 times more likely to get a job.
Hear Eva talk passionately to Sandro about her personal journey, how that has helped shape her into the person she is today and her commitment to helping support and guide those that have had the toughest of starts in life.
