Ocean Murff heads a trio of Krissy Lenz and Pete Wright in what is ultimately an episode heavy with Top Gun: Maverick enthusiasm. They dig into Tom Cruise's stunt mania, dragging the cast into the cockpits to film the thing, while Krissy cements her position as a Top Gun Flat Earther.
Elsewhere, Margo Robbie is taking the lead on a European Ocean's Eleven movie set in the 60's. Kids in the Hall are back on Amazon Prime, Ocean wants more Wonder Twins because he can't have them, and Pete sings the praises of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds sitting atop Slow Horses.
THE LIST!
The crew was presented with an either/or this week in an effort to determine favorite films in which a sequel or remake improved the franchise over the original, or made it worse. At least this round is full of steals.

Ray DeLancey, Kyle Olson, and Rob Kubasko are on the big show this week and they bring the fantasy.
First, apparently, Sonic 2 is fun. If you have a family to serve as an excuse that keeps you from having to watch it by yourself, you should see it. We're still watching Moon Knight, Picard, and Strange New Worlds, and this weekend we're doing a little Tatum with the Paramount+ drop of The Lost City.
And, did you hear? Walken is joining Dune.
We've got a little Star Wars stuff coming with the impending release of Kenobi, and you heard it here first: The new Lego Star Wars game slaps.
THE LIST!
Last week, Ocean, Krissy, and Tommy fought off sadness by paying forward a list of movies in which you end up rooting for the bad guy, or unhappy ending. And you know what? It turns out we're real downers who love movies like this.

Ocean Murff navigates Krissy Lenz and Tommy Metz III through pirate-infested waters to lands where crimes take place in LDS land and Andrew Garfield just tries to solve everything while being awesome in every way. Plus there’s plenty of Anatomy of a Scandal to discuss. We talk trailers – most of which Tommy stole like the pirate he is – and play a Cinco de Mayo game! Plus, there’s the list with the weirdest love scenes.

Kyle Olson leads Mandy Kaplan and Pete Wright through a parade in praise of understudies, Severance, a game of Double-Cross, and a list of great violence in film!
In spite of the fact that no one else on the show has seen 'Severance' on tv+, Pete shows of his super-obscure merch. Who is really to blame for not being able to catch up on the show? The Emmys, that's who. They're to blame by the crazy over-abundance of stuff to watch, so says Variety.
THE LIST!
This week's list invites an exploration of not the most surprising deaths in film, but the craziest deaths in film.

Mandy Kaplan leads Ocean Murff and Ray DeLancey in this week's Saturday Matinée, and they begin with Netflix's Russia problem. Yes, the company lost subscribers in spite of promising gains last quarter, and sure, there's a likely a password sharing problem. But could it be, possibly, and we're just spit-balling here: they are spending too much money on bad movies making the good movies hard to find? I guess we'll never know.
Spider-verse II is getting a delay. We're hopeful they are just tightening things around the edges and it doesn't have anything to do with that weird trailer cut-scene they released a while back.
Affleck and Damon are coming together for a Nike/Jordan film. Don't worry, as far as we've heard, there is no de-aged Michael Jordan in it.
THE LIST!
Ok, look. If we're honest, some of these aren't exactly sequels, rather reboots. But since we don't want to get in a big fight about it in show notes, we're going to let it be: Sequels better than their predecessors ahoy!

Happy US Tax Day everyone! Ok, it was yesteday as we share our Saturdays with you but makes us think about tax movies all the same. This week, Pete Wright hosts Kyle Olson and Tommy Metz III and we kick things off with Tommy’s strong feelings about The Secret and parking your car.
The publisher of EW has announced that April 2022 will be the last print edition of the magazine as they double-down on digital. We talk about business units, which is why this podcast has chapters that you can skip through.
Kyle wants to talk about Nimona and the long and winding road the film has taken to find its way from Disney's fear of LGBTQ+ and over to Netflix. A relief for what looks to be a cool property. Go read the book.
Tommy has seen Ambulance and shares his love for drone cinematography. Here's the studio video on it. But here's Potato Jet's vlog on it in which he interviews the drone camera operators, Bay, and cast. It's bananas.

OK, so, we might have fallen off the modifier train as some of these aren't exactly notorious, but we do offer a handful of great slaps in film!

Andy Nelson wishes you all a fine top of YOUR mornings in the big chair with Tommy Metz III and an about-time-finally return to our very own Ray DeLancey this week.
We remember Poitier, but only as an entry into a conversation about the “bizarre and terrible” Oscar ceremony as we pose the question: will the Oscars ever find a way to fix themselves? Ray has a great idea: Let Frank Dreben do it.
Eggers is heading North and has so. much. to. say about making movies with difficult people. Speaking of things that rhyme with “people”, our favorite clown is getting an “IT-quel” from HBOMax! Finally, if you haven’t seen the deleted scene from The Batman, check it out for Joker goodness.

Pete's in the big chair with Krissy and Kyle in tow to talk trailers, catchphrases, and a list of great performances in not-so-great movies!
But we start with 'Halo', the latest live action take on the epic video game franchise. It's a high-dollar operation aiming to make a mark in a history of false starts. Master Chief looks great. Will it hold up?
'Our Flag Means Death' is still worth watching if you're in to that sort of thing. 'Carson' is getting a series order with a trio of names worth keeping an eye on. Nic Cage has been working the last three years to get out of debt. We like him even more now. Oh, and Hans Zimmer gives us a tease of the Dune score performed live.

It's Bruce Willis's birthday! We open with the 300 movies he's contributed to over the last three years. Happy Birthday, Bruce.
Krissy has been watching Our Flag Means Death. It's pirates. Funny pirates. Mandy's been watching The Dropout, but really loves Turning Red. Kyle caught The Adam Project and found it meh. But Winning Time? That's a win. Sadly, Will Ferrell and Adam McCay broke up over it.
