After our latest recording session we accidentally stumbled into a discussion about the newest animated Spider-Man series on Disney+ and decided to use that as an excuse to resurrect our mini review format in a bonus mini review episode. 

Sejohn indulged in Devon’s request and used his local ABC affiliate’s website to watch an episode of High Potential and now The Say Reporters are applying their vast knowledge of popular culture to determine if the episode was written by AI or if Rob Thomas (not the Matchbox 20 guy) is actually responsible for this extremely strange episode of television

Following that up we discuss the futures of Sony’s Playstation and Microsoft’s Xbox brands in the wake of the Switch 2 reveal. 

On the topic of Nintendo we share more fan-generated content from Devon’s sister Dayle as she offers her thoughts and complaints related to the Pokemon cards promotions currently going on at McDonald’s.

Finally Devon spent some more time with Super Adventure Island 2 and his “Random” experiences may shock and amaze you.

We kick off Season 9 of The Say Report with a look at the current events going on in our world, from the ban of TikTok officially going into effect, the “Sober Curious” movement and what that really means, and the strange occurrence in Philly where a fan was held accountable for their actions. 

After that Devon has a PSA about “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD” that segues nicely into a discussion about all we know about the Nintendo Switch 2 after it was confirmed in a reveal by The N this past week.

Finally some discussion about “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” and “Super Adventure Island II” help end this first episode kicking off our ninth year as Say Reporters.

Kicking off our Season 8 Finale we discuss the latest rumors and goings ons in the tech and video game industries as CES 2025 has come to an end. 

Then Devon has some thoughts to share about “Den of Thieves: Pantera” which is perfect for Sejohn who has been left a bit confused by all of the discourse about the film he has been seeing online. 

Finally we turn our eye to the goings on of Television where happily we can report that there are some new and enjoyable sitcoms out there in the forms of “Shifting Gears” and “Happy’s Place.” Then unfortunately with the new syndication licensing deals for 2025 Devon was forced to face the first few seasons of “NCIS” and he learned first hand how much that show has changed over the past 20 or so years. 

It is the first episode of 2025 and the penultimate episode of Season Eight of the Say Report which means things are going to get a little out of pocket. 

First we spend a solid amount of time discussing our video game experiences with Sejohn finally pulling the trigger on getting a PS5 and Devon getting tired of all the misinformation that is being released about the successor to the Nintendo Switch. It all culminates in the sharing of our schedules and plans for gaming over the next few weeks before he purchases live during the show an additional RetroTink for broader gaming utility. 

Then we turn our attention to the sequels that are coming out this year that have us excited, before discussing “Wicked” and its digital release after 40 days at the cinema and the threat to make the already long film even longer by including a previously cut “Friendship Montage.” This culminates in Devon revealing his plans to actually read the source material novel as a way to cope with the second part not releasing until November.

Finally we turn our attention to Television leading to an absolutely insane rant from Devon about his feelings as they relate to Pop Culture Jeopardy.

Strap in and get ready for this absolute Roller Coaster of an episode. 

It’s time for this year’s celebration of the Ninja-Tivity and the Say Reporters are looking back thirty years into their youth to celebrate "3 Ninjas Kick Back." 

In a coda to the three films from Ben Affleck we covered in 2023, we take a look at a film that was delayed to 2004 to avoid competing with "Paycheck."

That's right we are taking the time to Survive, "Surviving Christmas."

As a bonus at the end we do an impromtu unboxing of one of NECA's Black Friday Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Blind Box offerings... which seems perfectly suited to the audio medium.

In this two days till Christmas 2024 episode we do a nice job covering everything by starting with an analysis of the new Superman film’s teaser trailer.

Then we make good on our promise to discuss the Christmas entertainment we have been watching including: “Red One,” “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” “That Christmas,” “Dear Santa,” and “Hot Frosty.”

Finally to cap everything off we talk about the games we have been playing to pass these yuletide times, which spirals into a discussion about the emerging debate about modern games not being as good a their retro counterparts.

This week’s episode we take another look at the film “Wicked: Part One” as it celebrates finally having made more money than “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” at the box office. As a bonus now that both Say Reporters have experienced Jon M. Chu’s take on the source material we can embark upon a nice deep dive into the film and the fact that only half of the story has been told so far. 

Next the latest entry into Sony’s Spider-Man Universe or SSMU “Kraven the Hunter” has released and with this seemingly closing the book on the Spider-Man without Spider-Man experiment we look back at the wasted potential the six films represent and how Kraven perfectly represents all of the mistakes made during this time. 

Finally Devon has a PSA about the latest Power Rangers Beat ‘em Up. Namely don’t waste your time or money on it.

The word of the episode is Innovation as Devon shares how he feels after having seen only half of a story, Sejohn shares his  thoughts about what James Gunn will do with the DCU, and both Say Reporters discuss the important difference between innovating on an existing piece of art and just blatantly copying something a la plagiarism.
