This week’s episode we take another look at the film “Wicked: Part One” as it celebrates finally having made more money than “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” at the box office. As a bonus now that both Say Reporters have experienced Jon M. Chu’s take on the source material we can embark upon a nice deep dive into the film and the fact that only half of the story has been told so far. 

Next the latest entry into Sony’s Spider-Man Universe or SSMU “Kraven the Hunter” has released and with this seemingly closing the book on the Spider-Man without Spider-Man experiment we look back at the wasted potential the six films represent and how Kraven perfectly represents all of the mistakes made during this time. 

Finally Devon has a PSA about the latest Power Rangers Beat ‘em Up. Namely don’t waste your time or money on it.

The word of the episode is Innovation as Devon shares how he feels after having seen only half of a story, Sejohn shares his  thoughts about what James Gunn will do with the DCU, and both Say Reporters discuss the important difference between innovating on an existing piece of art and just blatantly copying something a la plagiarism.

Making good on a promise from two years ago, The Say Reporters are here to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of “The Godfather Part II” and come to learn an interesting lesson about what approaching celebrated films from the past from an academic and analytical standpoint can reveal not only about the film in question but the weird cyclical nature of the Hollywood Machine.

In this scheduled Time Capsule episode we kick of December 2024 with an exploration and discussion about the twelve Simpsons shorts, produced by the Walt Disney Company, that are currently available to watch on Disney+. 

What we discover is a complex and layered mess that actually sheds a light on the harsh truths of the series but in so doing may actually inspire us to appreciate it more going forward.

The film adaptation of “Wicked” they have been threatening to release for the past 15 years has finally come to a theater near you and while the Say Reporters have not yet seen it, its very existence is more than enough to spark conversation about their experiences with its forerunners and the various controversies surrounding the latest entry in the Oz-Verse

Then to cleanse their palettes both Say Reporters share their experiences with video games they move to slowly when it comes to offering that rewarding shot of dopamine and how it may be a current issue in the industry. 

Finally Devon is fed up after the premiere of “Yellowstone,” the last three episodes of season five of “The Middle.” And the latest episodes that aired of “Fire Country” and “Doctor Odyssey” and if he needs to purge those feelings if he has any hope of being Thankful later this week. 

Giddy Up its our four hundred and ninth episode and we are serving up a mighty fine meal. 

First we kick off with a taste test of the 2024 Mtn Dew Game Fuel flavors, returning favorite Citrus Cherry and rookie of the year flavor Blackberry Citrus. 

Then we serve up a sponsored segment where Devon took some time with the Double Dragon DLC for River City Girls 2 and it went about as well as one would expect based upon his initial feelings about the game.

From there we talk cinema as both of your say reporters are baffled by Amazon’s actions as they relate to “Red One” as it becomes just another example of how we are doing films a disservice by judging them solely on their opening weekend box office.

Next The Say Reporters are unable to avoid the insanity of the Paul/Tyson fight and what the historic Netflix event may mean for live sporting events on the platform going forward. 

Finally Sejohn steps into the big chair to share his continuing thoughts about Mario & Luigi: Brothership as he spends an increasing amount of time with it. 

This week’s episode starts with a solid hour of your Say Reporters sharing their experiences with a film they never planned to give their time… “Harold and the Purple Crayon” and you are not prepared for what they think about this film

Then they share their experiences with the latest Vampire Survivors DLC: “Ode to Castlevania” a just how massive the content presented within actually is. 

From there the topic turns to the sixth entry in the Mario & Luigi series before Devon shares how the sixth episode of Doctor Odyssey actually arrived at the conclusion they have been teasing since the start of the series.

A mere 24 hours after recording our Very Special Episode celebrating 1994’s “The Crow” for its 30th Anniversary, the Say Reporters found themselves back in the studio to fill up this Time Capsule episode with all of their thoughts and feelings about the 2024 “remake” of “The Crow” starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA twigs.
