Looking at his life from the outside, it would appear that Drew Peterson was a real lady’s man.  But looks can be deceiving and Drew Peterson was no lady’s man, he was a cold-blooded killer.  I’m John Dodson, welcome to The Secret Sits.

If you are ever in Philadelphia, perhaps you could attempt to find 1316 Callowhill St., this use to be the address of a patent office, owned by H.H. Holmes and his partner Ben Pitezel, the elusive address is now a parking lot which stretches the length of an entire city block.  Just across the road stands the North American Building, but there use to be a station servicing the Philadelphia and Reading Railroads.

Just down the road is the building which holds The Philadelphia Inquirer, the very paper which covered all of the salacious news stories during the time of H.H. Holmes.

This is an odd piece of a neighborhood now, filled mostly with abandoned buildings, an area tucked between Chinatown and the poverty-stricken portion of North Philadelphia. But when H.H. Holmes wandered these streets, the city was very different.

When I think of the men and women who spurred on the civil rights movement, I don’t always go right to Martin Luther King jr or Rosa Parks.  A lot of times I think of a 14-year-old kid, who had his entire life ahead of him, but instead of getting to live that precious life, his life was taken from him.  And he unintentionally became one of the most famous names synonymous with the civil rights movement.  I am speaking of course about Emmett Till and how this young boy became a catalyst for change.  I’m John Dodson, welcome to The Secret Sits.

Today we are going to talk about the most prolific serial killer ever in the United States of America.  Some of this story will be explicit, so listener discretion is advised.  We are taught to read clues all around us, to keep ourselves safe from people who would do us harm.  Well, what happens when the person who wants to kill you, removes those clues and lulls you into a false sense of security?  This is exactly what happened to almost 6 dozen women, when they met The Green River Killer.  I’m John Dodson, this is The Secret Sits.

How would you feel if you signed up to be part of a medical test group, hoping to get better, only to find out that instead of trying to cure your illness, they simply wanted to observe you suffering from it? You would be pretty dismayed am sure.  You would also probably develop an extremely deep-seated distrust of medical professionals.  Today on The Secret Sits, we are going to discuss this exact situation, which took place during the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, I’m John Dodson, welcome to The Secret Sits.

If you follow The Secret Sits on Instagram, you may have noticed in the 5 facts about me, that Jodi Foster is my all-time favorite actor.  But there is one person whose infatuation with the actor almost caused the assassination of the President of the United States of America.  I am of course talking about John Hinckley Jr.  And even though Jodi almost never speaks of this horrid time in her life, we are going to cover it here today, I’m John Dodson, welcome to The Secret Sits.

When I say Patty Hearst out loud, your first thoughts are probably of a young woman in a beret holding a machine gun.  This young woman, from one of the richest families in the United States of America has an extraordinary story, an account that many did not believe.  And no amount of money could buy her innocence, or could it?  I’m John Dodson welcome to The Secret Sits.
