When I was in college in the 90’s, one of my many part time jobs was at a TCBY frozen yogurt store.  Around this same time, in Austin, Texas another yogurt store, aptly named, I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt became the scene of a horrible murder, which is, to this day, talked about in True Crime circles.  I’m talking, of course, about the Austin, Texas Yogurt Shop Murders.  I’m John Dodson, welcome to The Secret Sits.

What happens when we as a society fall into the trappings of what some call a moral panic?  There have been very few of these mass hysterias recorded, but one which happened during my childhood, shaped me in a way that even I may never have expected.  I am talking about the Satanic Panic of the 1980s which led to over 12 thousand unsubstantiated claims of Satanic ritual abuse.  I’m John Dodson, welcome to The Secret Sits.

Did you ever go to summer camp?  I mean, like a Camp Crystal Lake type of summer camp.  Cabins in the woods, a big pond or lake with lots of nature noises and barley legal teenagers entrusted with the health and safety of a few dozen kids, away from home, maybe for the first time in their young lives.  Our story today is about a camp like this, but sadly this camp’s summer campers did not even make it through one night away from home.  I’m John Dodson and today on The Secret Sits, we are going to talk about, The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders.

Do you think that in today’s world, laden with electronic gizmos and gadgets and CCTV cameras around every corner, that a person can literally just disappear?  Because I can tell you, that they can. Today we are going to discuss the disappearance of a man, who to this day remains one of the most puzzling disappearances of all time.  But maybe today, one of you can help bring Brian Shaffer home.  I’m John Dodson and this is The Secret Sits.

At 01:30am on Halloween night, Raffaele Minichiello, dressed in camouflage, stepped on to the plane, a $15.50 ticket from Los Angeles to San Francisco in his hand.

This was the last stop on Trans World Airlines flight 85's journey across the US, which had started several hours earlier in Baltimore before landing at St Louis and then Kansas City.

At 01:30 on Friday, 31 October 1969, TWA flight 85 left Los Angeles for San Francisco. Fifteen minutes into the flight, the hijacking began.

I'm John Dodson and come with me on this story of the world's longest hijacking.

Some people think they can have whatever they want.  And sometimes this includes other human beings.  In today’s case we are going to look at a monster who thought he could take whatever he wanted. And because of his malicious brain, he did just that, he took whatever he wanted, even when it included 3 women, who he would ultimately underestimate. I’m John Dodson and today on The Secret Sits, we are going to explore the Ariel Castro Kidnappings.

In today’s world people are obsessed with shows like the Bachelor and the Bachelorette or Temptation Island.  I personally feel that these shows are a bit cringy and honestly, I am not sure if love is ever discovered during the filming of these type of shows.  But these shows are nothing compared to the creepiest episode of The Dating Game in 1978, which featured a real-life serial killer.  I’m John Dodson and today on The Secret Sits, we are going to discuss Rodney Alcala, AKA the Dating Game Killer.
